Hey Mike,

You bring up a good point. I just checked my car, and my photos, and I just don't see how that would be an issue based on the air flow direction in and out of the air filter area.

I also checked my first round of data collection... and although my IAT.1's were higher on average (3-5) degree's with the bracket, the air was also (2-3) degree's hotter than the baseline. Add to that, my IAT.3's were actually (3-5) degree's cooler with the bracket on vs. the baseline, in warmer weather...

I know those numbers don't mean much because the real benefit is in underhood heat extraction, there will be a residual benefit to IAT.s.. or perhaps a decline based on your logic of sucking in hot air, but I don't see any evidence of that thus far.

I finish with you might be onto something, and look forward to collecting more data, in different temperatures with different driving conditions. Stay tuned

Cheers!

So for Rain. I'm only talking rain, nothing else. This would be exactly the same as running with the rain guard off correct? And is water getting into the engine bay so bad in that area. Obviously, GM doesn't want it there, but I hear some are running without a rain guard in the rain. What is the danger of water getting into that area of the engine bay?

There's a lot of variables to account for, especially application of driver. I have 30 minutes of hard driving on track vs another owner maybe doing 5 second pulls on a highway every so often. There's a lot more heat generated with my use.
I will note I haven't recorded any data yet, but I think it's a valid concern for my purpose.
RacingforALS already made a video of track use with a rotofab vs stock intake on track with data showing running a rotofab is a negative on track. I'm not saying it's the end all be all, but it's some good info to start with.

Your product looks super nice and I'm surprised after all these years no company jumped on it. I'd probably be on board if I didn't make my own already. Quick note, the GT4.R we got inspiration from for this runs a closed intake. Maybe it's due to regulation or it's the better route. I don't know.

I removed my rain guard two years ago, and the only thing I notice is smoke coming out of the engine compartment

Do you have issues with anything getting wet while washing?

Great feedback Mike, Just sent you a PM to discuss adding you to our track testing list.

Surely something could be fabbed up to replace the rubber seal on the top edge of the Rotofab "airbox" that would effectively to seal to the altered contour of the hood.

Otherwise, what would be the best closed box alternative out there?

PowerDemon, for me, I just toss the rain guard back on with 1 screw when I do a wash. It's really not a big deal. when I'm done, I just remove it again. Easy and free.

If you’re running E85, then total airflow > IAT readings, everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. If not, then your engine is very knock limited regardless of what you do with your intake setup. TLDR, you need E in your life.
