I just did it , it only says a security issue. The service advisor didn’t have or didn’t share anything else about it , took about and hour and a half to do

There are at least two other threads on this. Nobody knows exactly what it does, but it is suspected to alleviate (but not completely solve) the OBD port key generation thefts.

I just called the 800 # and the dealership near me
Both are totally clueless!!! Other than it’s an update
To the BCM!! Have no idea what it actually updates!
Is it some sort of update for security purposes? And if
So, what is it updating!!!!

I had this done today. In and out in a little over a half hour. I think the actual programming was more like 20 minutes.

Afterwards I had to reset my ambient lighting setting and bluetooth was picky for a minute but I think that is it. I haven't really explored all of the settings so if there were changes there I can't say.

I think that is the case. The invoice says "Reprogrammed BCM".
There are also a few "WCC" codes, whatever those are.

I have an appointment for Friday. They told me 4-6 Hours. Since you all are seeing shorter times, I might just hang out for an hour and see what happens. But here is my main concern; I have a buddy at work that had it done on his wife's Suburban - Same "BCM Re-program". Started having problems with On-Star 4 weeks in. Now he is seeing all sensors freaking out and On-Star failing. He told me DO NOT do it! I'm reaching out here to see if there are any issues. I think I'll wait for another 30 days and check in here periodically.

Doubt it has anything to do with the BCM update. He's got a separate issue.

That's not likely due to the reprogram. There have been many successful reprograms already, and I haven't seen any reports of issues. Sounds like your friend should check his battery. A low battery would cause these issues.

Okay, very relieved and yes, I'll let him know and have him check his battery. Thanks!
