I know a few SmoothBoost / Reflex+ users asked about the speed based boost control, here is a link to the setup to achieve closed loop speed based boost control with your setup.

I hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but I'm interested in getting this as well. I am going with the DSX Atlas port controller, how would smoothboost integrate with that particular controller? My tuner who is doing all of the install mentioned it would only be good for track when i'm doing a pulley swap but i'm intrigued on how this would integrate with the new port controller as well as for street/strip use. Thanks for any help.

As far as I know there currently is no integration, the smooth boost is a stand alone system that can work on pretty much anything. Ted.

Hey Tohighpsi aka Mike , I have your system on my zl1 . Absolutely love it on my 2650. I have a question on the by pass valve you all have . I have a smooth boost now . An it feels a lot lazyer down low on the SB controller compared to the stock vacuum bypass . The boost dosent hit as fast and as hard . That's the hole thing about having the PD blowers . Sure the SB makes it more like driving a cinterfical blower but no fun in that shit . Lol Dose your bypass work like stock and as fast as stock or dose it ramp in ?

![]() The Smoothboost is directly tied to your foot! It’s so much more controllable than the crappy vacuum bypass. If your foot is down, you’ll have all the boost just like a regular vacuum bypass. And trust me, it’s 100% instantaneous. So if you’re not feeling it then I suspect an installation issue. Upon install you need to verify correct actuator travel under WOT! Have a buddy turn the ignition on (but engine off) then floor the car (again engine NOT running lol) while you watch under the hood and make sure the actuator closes the bypass 100%. Depending on application you may need to shorten or lengthen the actuator rod to facilitate proper bypass travel. None of this is difficult but you can’t skip these steps.

It is wired correctly. I do turn it up all the way up when at the track . But shure do t feel like the stock bypass actuator. The stock one hits boost harder . The smoothboost is more liner . I can't prove this yet . I want to see what the dyno graph looks like compared to the stock actuator. Maybe this is the problem . My car wasn't tuned with the smooth boost on it. It was turned with the stock one from magnuson

Linear is what you want for traction. You are not going to hook a massive torque spike on the street. That is kind of the purpose for this with big power setups.

The servo motor will never move as fast as the vacuum bypass.
I know that a few of the drag race specific guys have gone away from the Smoothboost and are able to 60' a bit faster on the vacuum bypass set up. We like to use them on builds where the customer wants to make 1,000RWHP but also wants to keep it full FlexFuel with the ability to run on 93 under power. The Smoothboost works great for that. |

Smoothboost also was a major help with low vacuum at cold idle. The vacuum bypass really struggled with that. The big DI injectors and big cam don’t love cold starts and if the motor stumbled at all, the vacuum bypass would close putting my engine in boost at idle….
With Smoothboost engine vacuum is irrelevant. As far as speed, the servo literally moves at the exact same speed as your foot on the accelerator pedal. I’ve verified this by watching the bypass while a helper stepped on the pedal. It is true the vacuum one will close before you’ve got the pedal at WOT and while I suppose it’s a millisecond faster, I found it to be uncontrollable at times (to King’s point). To each their own of course but I’ll never have another PD blower without Smoothboost. Can’t wait to add boost by gear at some point soon as I believe that can be done with the Reflex+.
