You know how you car has the mode selector right by the parking brake button? Stealth mode is the exhaust mode (only for cars that have the NPP active exhaust) associated with the "snow/ice" driving mode

The Stealth mode is an option with the NPP exhaust that allows you to close the 2 "straight thru" exhaust valves in that big "suitcase" of a muffler and will significantly decrease sound. However, even with NPP- those valves will remain open for several seconds at start-up. Also, Chevy discourages using Stealth continually.
Other options would be available if you also have the mag ride option that can switch the shock settings from Track, to Sport, to touring and snow/ice. Each of those has factory pre-sets have been assigned the things that would/should be appropriate. But they can easily be modified. For example: I never Track my car, so I've got Touring mode steering as the default for how much assist I have in any of the pre-set modes. I also have the exhaust set to Track when I toggle it to Sport. So I still have "Sport" suspension setting, Touring steering and Track exhaust. You do need the engine running to update the settings. I hope this clarifies things a little. All this applies to my 1SS '17 that I optioned sparingly but does have NPP and the Mag ride.

I coulda sworn it was more basic. More like, you can make the car stay in Track exhaust, but it applied to all modes. Maybe I just didn't screw around with it deep enough, but now I want to try it again, lol. Disturb it from its slumber... Last edited by speedyink1; 01-15-2025 at 02:10 PM. |

Are you sure about that? On my car I cannot adjust the pre-set modes. I can create a custom mode but that negates the pre-set ones. So my only options are to use the pre-sets or the 1 custom option. I have no ability to change the pre-set's like you're suggesting and judging by the previous comments I am not alone.
Also your comment about stealth mode is definitely not true on my car. If I start the car in stealth mode the valves don't open, its quiet the entire time including start up. Are you sure your modes are actually changed? it kinda sounds like you set a custom setting and then are just using the default settings assuming they have been altered, especially if your stealth mode opens the valves on startup, that sounds just like the standard touring mode. What I have now is my exhaust it set to track, steering set to track and suspension is set to selector switch. What I would like to be able to do is change the pre-sets so that I can be in say sport mode but the exhaust is track and then switch to touring and have the exhaust switch to stealth which currently I cannot do. Its either set as selector switch or defined which cancels out the preset. I even just watched a video by lethal garage with the same year as your car and its exactly the same as how it works for me. (I say this respectfully). The infotainment settings are global modifications for Exhaust, Steering, and Suspension. If you modify it in there, it applies to ALL drive modes (Tour, Sport, Track, Snow/Ice). Although he's correct that in Touring, the startup opens the valves for a couple seconds before activiating and quieting it down. If you want a true "stealth" startup (with valves closed), you have 2 options: 1. Manually have the car in "stealth mode" thru the infotainment settings described above. 2. Start the battery/aux mode, and manually do the #1 above OR manually switch to Snow/Ice mode. |

I stand corrected. I've been making more mistakes lately- a mind IS a terrible thing to waste. Reckon I'll give mine a rest awhile! Keep up the good work everyone!

Last night I tried switching the exhaust sound in the infotainment menu.
When I put it in stealth, it started in stealth. When I put it in "AUTO" it starts in tour mode. That may have been the mode I left it in, but I cannot confirm that. Whatever change in the infotainment menu you make is a permanent change to that setting until you make a change: steering, exhaust, suspension. |

Yup, it drove me nuts why it wouldn't retain snow/ice for the stealth exhaust. If I have to quiet it for the baby, I gotta do the hold power for a few seconds, switch to snow/ice, then start. This is pretty convenient as opposed to waiting for the infotainment to load.
