What is affordable?
More affordable? Than what? For who? That's a wide threshold. And what would a successful Gen7 entail? In GM's eyes? In the consumer's eyes? I agree with the marketing angle, both the Gen5 & Gen6 were not marketed effectively. The Gen5/6 had more niche slots, that is, more defined segments within it's own brand. That brings in the hardcore customers on the performance variants. More niche than the Challenger at least. The Mustang has had lots niche slots over the life of a platform but some are not as hardcore within that slot. The Mustang brand has the Mustang legacy pulling it around for sales. The Gen5 did very well on sales, especially the Gen5 2014 refresh. The Gen6 was not revolutionary like the Gen5 was, so it already was not going to captivate potential new buyers. Most non partisan buyers don't really care that the Gen6 was x amount lighter or more dynamic or ran a road course or drag strip better. With that being said, more marketing could have helped the non partisan sales, but not a massive amount to matter, IMHO. A Gen7 ICE isn't going to happen under the current GM leadership and vision. And as long as the climate change/anti carbon bullshit is pushed, corporations and the government won't budge. Economically, the 2 door muscle car/sports car market is very small. Some manufacturers can justify the commitment for small sales. And any revenue is small and pales in comparison to what they make on the bread and butter segments.

it should be more practical and affordable.maybe a hatchback for easier loading instead of the tiny trunk opening.the T4/A10 combo was peppy around town and off lights but it sounded like a lawn mower.however there are a lot more built without the V8 or ZL-1.lots of people like a sporty car that handles well but dont "need" 500 horsepower. the ZL-1 and V8 should still be available for thise that dont mind paying the premium price.

When I bought my 6th gen Camaro, the first thing that I noticed was the rear seating space of my 5th gen Camaro was gone.

i still have my 5th gen because the cabin is bigger.however with the front seats back all the way the rear seat is more of an upholstered package tray.still better thasn my previous car which was a pontiac solstice,it needed about 2 inches more in the legroom department and the trunk was laughable.

I’d be willing to bet this isn’t the case with the Mustang and more i4’s are built than V8’s. If that’s the case I’d say the Camaro attracts a very different kind of buyer which unfortunately for GM is the minority.

In late 2019/prepandemic you absolutely could get low mileage ZL1’s in the high 40’s. Keep in mind they were only 2 year old cars at the time too. Remember the new ones started at like 64k before incentives during that time period. Before Chevy started significantly holding back production of them people weren’t buying Camaro’s compared to the competition. They had horrible resale. Post pandemic they have become one of the better value holding cars.

Maybe it was just me, but I didn't know the Gen6 1LE existed, the numbers, and fun factor. I assumed it was a warmed over gen5.
I was set on getting a GT350/C7GS/C8 anyway but I was complaining about lack of inventory/price when someone suggested the latest 1LE (2021). I would have loved a hatchback and cupholders like my gen3 T/A instead of the tiny opening and uncomfortable/weirdly cut center console. But I understand decisions were made lol oh, and it would have been nice for a small HP boost in 2020 to get sales/interest up, but GM didn't care. I'm sure they were just ready to kill it. Even low mileage hellcats were selling for 45-60k I bought my 2016 Camaro around 2018, but was looking at Charger hellcats at the time as well because of the interrior space available, but finally decided on my 2016 Camaro SS. My 2016 SS had 22k miles on it. My current 2020 SS had 31k miles on it, and I bought in February of 2020 for $37,000 out the door.

I would've loved to see an LT2 upgrade. They missed a great opportunity, and could have potentially badged a Z/28 with that powertrain.

I don’t want to hear from anyone that says “LT2 was designed to only fit in the C8”. That’s BS. It’s still a 6.2 Chevy small block. All Chevy had to do was modify the intake a little like the aftermarket companies do for a small fee, smack a wet sump oil pump on it like the one on the LT1 and use the Camaro manifolds. Rate it at 485 hp to account for the manifold difference. I guess what I’m describing is a heads cam intake upgrade for the LT1, a lot like what Chevy did for the Ls6 in the c5 z06 back in the day.

It is kind of interesting that the 6th Gen is such a big car but has almost no back seat and the trunk space entrance is non existent. Why did they may the trunk entrance so small and why is the cabin so compact?
