Im glad I was able to help you guys! That's the whole part of the community. I always hear people talk about Hurst/Speeddawg but very few of raceseng. I had a buddy pay for them at full price but when I seen the deal I had, I had to share and then the shift knob came it took me by surprised but when i started driving aggressively I was amazed! I'm glad I helped my fellow 6gen guys who enjoy driving their cars. Its one of those things you have to try it to understand what I mean.

It was the LAST white Contour knob. I asked! It's HEAVY. I was impressed. As other's have said, I do believe it helps. Possible bias, sure. But I'm happy with the shifting AND appearance. We all have preferences, but if you like the feel of the round shift knob, this feels even better with the groove around the bottom. -though you can't buy one anymore sooooo, I suppose it doesn't matter. Oops. ....BUT....if you DO like the round shift knobs. I ALSO purchased a Barton, resin shift knob. White also, with the traditional old school engraved shift pattern. They have black too. Now it's the same size 3/4" thread. I'd ASSUME it's the same 16 pitch. Will find out, though I really like the Raceseng, and doubt I'll switch. Barton knob should be in this week.

Anyhow, old boot removal just like Grey Ghost mentioned. A small flathead screw driver between the knob and the silver ring. Worked my around it with just slight little twists. Never LOOKED like it was doing anything, but after about 6 or 7 twists, it DID eventually "pop" the black collar inside the boot off the clips. I attached a photo of the knob so you can "see" what was holding the knob to the collar inside the boot. I can't confirm, but I suspect as the silver ring was moved down, away from the knob, it helped to compress the clips on inside of the knob, allowing the boot to come loose. Once the boot was off, I could've left it as is, but thought I might use the silver ring (not sure how) and some channel locks got 'er done without issue. The one TIP that I'd like to add is when pushing the screwdriver between the ring and the knob, push it all the way in. About 3/16" of an inch. First two times I was "gentle", and didn't push it all the way. Those are the ONLY two blemishes i made on the ring that can be seen if I ever use again.

Anyhow, sorry for the night shots. Daylight is always better but I didn't wanna be left out after Grey Ghost updated the group!

....and thanks to Blackmamba. Had it on the backburner, but definitely would've missed out if not for him posting.
Nice!
Definitely let us know if the Barton shift knob is compatible.

Sure, consider it spoken for. The black one just came in the mail today so I'm gonna put 'em side by side with the knob, see if the black one just disappears or if the red is worth the pop.

Thanks!

Just installed the two and I really like the Titanium one, specifically the way it feels. It's lighter than stock by 100 grams but it feels about the same as stock just seated a bit lower. It's a bit wet out today so I'll give this and the Ashiko a proper test over the week to see which one I like.

Haven't installed mine yet. Lame, I know!

That said, question... does driving aggressively include fast shifting? I'm curious what the heavier shifter does to fast 2>3 shifts. Does it smooth it out? Does it speed up? Or, does it require you to slow down with the left to right motion?

You don't really "DO" anything differently. The heavier weight can make the shifts FEEL a little more firm or decisive, especially on a car where the shifting feels a little notchy, but at the end of the day, it's not a huge difference, especially considering the stock knob is weighted too. -and though these are on the heavier side, most of the hurst knobs I've used over the years have some heft soooo, it's nothing too far from the norm.

Sooo just to add, in the event someone finds this thread looking for info, the Barton knob DOES fit on the Raceseng adapter. I've got some thoughts and comments, so I'm going to post a separate review/comparo, which I'll link once I post it. FWIW, I know there are some other brands that make knobs too, and I'd guess they're the same too, but I don't know for sure. But the Barton and Raceseng both use that same 3/4"-16tpi thread.

That's good news.

It's too bad there's so few shift knobs out there with 3/4-16 thread. It's pretty much just Barton and Speed Dawg (and previously Raceseng), afaik; so all cube-ball style shifters. (I wish there were some pill and teardrop shaped options.)

If anyone knows of other options, please advise.

I've actually been looking into this, as I've run round "cue balls" on all my Camaros over the years, and want to do the same with my current SS. Obviously, lol. I'm gonna compare the Barton to the Raceseng, but long story short, I really like the simple, round Barton. -but weight of the Raceseng is really nice. -I THINK Billetworks also makes knobs that'll fit. If you search by brand, they ONLY list the CRUZE under Chevrolet, but if you just look through their knobs, they list a threaded adapter choice for the 6th gen. I sent an email for confirmation. -and while I'm after sphere/round, they DO have some other options. Maybe give 'em a look and see whatcha find.

Update as of literally 60 seconds ago....Billetworkz DOES offer a 6th gen adapter, and it converts to...you guessed it 3/4-16. I'm gonna buy one from Billetworkz, and may also grab one from Speed dawg just to do a proper comaro.

I just looked at the Billetworkz website. I like their "The Hybrid" shift knob. It says that it's available for "Chevy Camaro '16-'22 (Non-threaded adapter)." (Note: One has to search by shift knob, then select vehicle model (if I start with vehicle model Camaro isn't listed)). I'm going to reach out and request the specs (dimensions, weight, thread size/pitch, etc.).

There's another company called WC Lathe Werks that makes excellent shift knobs. They made me a custom one for my ae86, but that car had a very common 12x1.25 thread, so not hard to do. They don't have any listed for a Camaro, but they do offer some Corvette shift knobs, and I did see some 3/8-16 knobs... Custom could be an option, but I don't know if it would be worth their time.

Edit:
Billetworkz responded. All of their knobs come with 3/4-16 thread. Here are the specs on The Hybrid shift knob:

Weight: 330g (0.7275 lb)
Height: 3.5"
Width: 1.6"
Exterior surface: delrin (won't be affected by really hot or cold temps)

I really like the shape and material of The Hybrid knob; it's tempting. However, after learning how heavy the OEM shift knob is @ 0.90 lb, I have a feeling I won't like something lighter, especially after using the 1.4 lb Raceseng Slammer knob.

(I really like rowing-through-the-gears with the (heavier) Slammer knob because it reduces shifting effort. Disclaimer: I also have a 1.8" shift knob height extender that further reduces shifting effort because of the added leverage.)

If you end up getting rid of the black one, and david_acm doesn't take it, please hit me up. thx

Here's my take on the weight. I swapped a TKO-600 into my old Iroc, and it was notchy. Bought the trans from a friend, and we both had a lot of seat time. Got a weighted knob, and it really helped, we both agreed. Fast forward to now, and I really like the weighted Raceseng, and you can tell it's weighted, but the trans isn't really notchy at all. Pretty smooth, especially after it's warm. I drove with the non weighted Barton knob, and while I didn't like the "non" weighted in my garage, once on the road I didn't really notice. I swapped back and forth between the two a few times and the first few shifts with the Raceseng were nice, but again, after a few shifts, you no longer noticed. Just my two cents. -and the Barton is LIGHT!!!!!!

I'm gonna buy the Billetworkz and do a comparo with all three. May be another week or so, but I'll post up when I can.

Just an FYI, it looks like they have 30 Adapter left. ...seeing as multiple different knobs from different manufacturers will work, these are a great deal at a clearance price of $5 bucks each. I think they're closing Dec 31.

I'm gonna buy another one just because.... .....but at that price, I MAY give it another day or two and then buy ALL of 'em.
