I traded my '17 ZL1 for a '23 5BW in May. My ZL1 was from the first production run with a build date of 10/20/2016. The oil pressure at idle when warmed up was in the low 30s, usually 31-32 psi. On the Blackwing, it's in the upper 30s, typically 37-38 psi. Shows something was definitely changed in these later LT4 engines.

Mine was 42psi when i first got it. Over time it settled to around 32psi at idle until the pump started to break down around 14k miles.

Approximately $4200 including the Katech pump. I just did the pump. This car has all the power I need. I can barely use the power this car has. I have had it up at New England Dragway and ran a 11.50 on street tires so I am pretty happy with its performance.

Thank you to Jannetty Racing for doing the repair. They started the job on a Monday and I was picking it up the same week on that Friday. They did an amazing job, I could'nt be happier.

Spoke with Al over at Jannetty Racing a couple of weeks ago and setup the appointment to have the pump replaced with a Katech Pump.

Al was great to work with. He got right back to me with a very reasonable estimate considering they are removing the entire motor to ensure they do the job correctly.

I will be excited to get the car back and to drive it without the stress of damaging a 15-20k motor.
They did mine in April of 2023. Top notch work. Same deal. Change it before it broke.

Hey everyone. Been a while since I last posted. Kind of concerned my 2018 ZLE is about to be added to the list of oil pump failures. Warm idle usually runs just above 30psi with cold idle in socal around 38psi. Once the car is warmed up though and i park in the garage a few minutes, been noticing the psi dropping to 27 or 28 psi. Some of you that had failures noticed this too right and once it starts dipping to the low 20s, thats basically it and the pump is on its way to failure? Bought a non GM service plan / extended warranty from my local chevy dealership last year. Car has 14,643 on the odo. No mods. Should I call a few of my dealers to see if theyll replace it or do i need to anxiously wait until it completely fails? Option 2 is obviously concerning. Any thoughts are appreciated.

No warranty company will replace the pump proactively. If you want to eliminate worry, you will have to replace it before it breaks. Your car is an '18. It's in the breakage zone. I replaced my pump with a Katech.

I am joining the club with my 2018 ZL1. Yes I added it to the poll.

Any recommendations for a shop in the Ca Bay Area? I am in San Jose.

Planning to use a Katech. Not sure if my local dealer would install a Katech if I wind up going that route.

Katech recommended Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista.

One of my Buddies in our local Buick GN club that used to work there recommended them also.

I think the oil pump in my 2016 SS just failed. I pulled into my driveway and shifted to park and then the low oil pressure warning came on. I shut it off. I started it back up a little bit later and gave it a few tiny revs in park and the oil pressure did go up but then down to zero again. I'm hoping there's no engine damage. I'll be having it replaced with the Katech one though.

Sounds like mine. I got a reduced power message on the highway but pressure was still almost 40.

When I idled it gave me the low oil pressure message.

Waiting for my pump now. Katech said it should ship this week. About 3 weeks from order date.

I got their timing chain and guide also just because....

I'm sorry to hear about your oil pump. How many miles were on your car? Did you have any modifications done to your car?

Factory stock.

Katech pump arrived in 2.5 weeks.

It’s at Abel Chevrolet now.
