I'm too hanging on to my warranty for another year or so, then once it expires new pump and cam for sure.
I bounce in and out on the Corvette Forums, and really dont see the topic much discussed on that platform. Do the LT4 Vette's have the same issue or not? are the C7's Dry sump ??? |

This pump is same as used in the 5.3 truck motor. Just google "5.3 oil pump failure" and you can see reports. This thread has some techs going back-and-forth about a failure. You have to use "view source" to see their comments: https://diag.net/msg/m4nbvt8cw50smzq8hpg11opovk Video showing how this pump works: |

Mine was extremely high at higher RPM's before the oil pressure dropped to 20.

Same here... High and Low alarms on the oil pressure is a no-brainer... Just another reason the Banks iDash is so bad-ass... and... also on-sale now at www.griffin-motorsports.com

It looks like my pump failed last nite. I own a 2016 Camaro SS. Can anyone advise me on the number of shop hours to remove/replace the oil pump on the SS model? Thanks. I'm in lake county illinois if anyone can also recommend a shop (or dealership) also. thanks. John

Final update:
made an appointment at Cordes Performance in Tempe AZ. They called a couple days prior to the appointment date to confirm the date I would be delivering my car to them. Dropped it off on November 20, for their start date of November 21. They told me should be done November 26 or 27th. The called on November 25 and advised the car was done and ready for pickup. I picked up the car on November 26th. They provided my old oil pump and pictures of the car prior to, during and after the work was completed. They advised they took the car for a short drive, then put it back on the rack to check for oil leaks. When I dropped the car off, noted several Corvettes, Camaros and other high performance cars in the lot. When I picked my car up there were three ZL1 1LE's in the lot. This is obviously the place to go in AZ for performance work on your car. I can not speak highly enough of their work and the way they handle the job from start to finish. I want to thank the folks at the start of this thread that recommended them. Looking forward to driving the car now!! When I got the car back home I am now at 3500 miles. Let the fun begin!! |
