Coolant surge tank nut

Is there supposed to be a nut on the rearmost mount for the coolant surge tank / reservoir? See area circled in green in picture below. I'm wondering if the factory forgot to put this on or if it wasn't deemed necessary.

I'd appreciate if someone could take a look and report back.

The middle/top mount has a nut and the forward mount location has a rubber grommet only (no nut).

Looks like there are actually two studs with grommet only. There’s another stud down low just forward of the fill cap.

Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like it's normal then.

For what it's worth, it looks like the front / lower mount has a rubber grommet as shown in the picture below (circled in yellow).

So to recap, here's what's present at the 3 mounts:
  • Rear / lower mount: NO nut or grommet
  • Top mount: Nut
  • Front / lower mount: Rubber grommet

If anyone's looks different from that, let me know.

Mine looks the same, however my reservoir has a lot of movement. No clue if the bolts are loose but from what I can see it’s creating a noise when I drive. I thought it was my suspension maybe shocks or something but I’ve pushed and pulled my suspension parts in every which way and haven’t gotten the noise to reproduce. I shake my coolant reservoir and the noise is similar…I can’t simulate the force of a 3600 lb vehicle driving through rough Maryland roads. I ordered the grommet located on the stud that has one and will be applying to the rear stud to see if that reduces noise. If not I’m going to get a nut and secure it like the top mount. They are all the same studs from what I can see, maybe GM did not like the access to the lower two studs so they opted to not use any nuts.
