Not all ZL1s have an e-diff and if you have ever driven one of those GT500s you would know why you shouldnt.

I like the op’s idea of an Lt4 in an SS body. Would just make it come with 6 piston front brakes, trans and convertible rear end from zl1, wheel and tire setup somewhere between the ss and zl1 and with less cooling and suspension goodies. I would NOT advertise it as a track capable camaro just like Chevy said the lt1 isn’t track capable. Leave the track goodies off to keep costs down and start it as a 1ss feature wise. It would probably be the most muscle car feeling 6th Gen camaro which honestly I do miss that feeling. If I didn’t track my car I’d be in something “worse” like what I just described.

Take the LT "body" (different front end/dash cluster) with the ZL1 drivetrain (engine, trans, diff, and axles), add any "needed" suspension upgrades with proper brakes and 1LE wheels (silver painted). Slap the ZL1 hood on the front, blade spoiler on the rear and LT4 emblems on the fenders. Keep the same limited options as the current LT1 trim (my pref would be Recaros and Tech Pack). Keep the friggin' spooge cloth alcantara out of the interior.
Personally I would have paid a 2SS 1LE price for it.

....and just to make sure we're all on the same page. ....basically this entire conversation is to suggest that the 455 LT1 isn't "enough power", the SS cars are too refined and underpowered, and while the 600+ horses of the Z cars is enough power, the rest of the tech/suspension/brakes of the alpha is really too much, and more than we need? Imagine this conversation 10 years ago. I say this all in fun. Not picking on anyone. I just think it's funny how far we've come, yet the hotrodder in all of us (myself included) is never satisfied. |

Just make your own. If you have the LT1 trim level of car like I do. First thing I did was swap wheels and tires. Throw on a Magnuson 2650. it fits without a hood change and their you go.

You've gotta go back to the early/mid 2000's for that. 10 years ago the SS was only making around 30hp and torque less than it does now. |

Personally I think it's pointless. Would be a downplay on the ZL1 and take away from the commodity of owning one. That plus it would be stupidly dangerous to drive and unpredictable at WOT without the right tires and suspension.

As a ZL1 owner.... this is why I'll 100% admit the "best buy" overall is a SS 1LE.
I test drove a 2ss and 2ss 1le and was sold on the 1le...I just made the huge mistake of test driving the zl1 and couldn't say no. |

Or get an LT1....We're all here for the Camaro, but that's a pretty unfair claim. For as good as the Alpha platform is there are still plenty of Mustang trims that can match the equivalent Camaro's performance, if not exceed it in some aspects, like the GT350, Mach 1 and GT500. The Challenger and Charger aren't track cars, but the Viper is and it has wider tires than just about anything out there. |

Basically your describing a boosted 2SS 1LE. Everything of a ZL1 minus a few one off upgrades.
