Am I confusing your build with another one?... I thought you had a sequential gearbox... I'm an idiot. Is this all without N2O? How in the H3LL do you get that much power? LOL. Does your bumpstick look like the Rockies? LMFAO

So the shop has a customer with a ZL1 1LE with a very similar setup and a sequential. He does a lot of half mile racing and is the current 1/2 mile record holder for 6th gens at 196.x MPH. That build used what worked on mine around the engine and blower, but it’s still a stock sleeved block and few other differences. It makes in the mid-1300 RWHP range.

No nitrous and the cam is definitely aggressive. Lol. We have just made a lot of decisions that go against some common misconceptions with these blowers.

Oopsy... I'm a dumdum.

It would be interesting to learn what those are, but I get it if you guys need to keep it a secret. It's just fun learning is all. Looking forward to all your progress, regardless

Well, if I was to guess based on going against "common wisdom", I'd say he has:

-A cam that is more "N/A" looking than PD-looking
-A big port job on the blower
-A pulley setup that spins it to the moon

The cam one would definitely be a great discussion for sure.

Not so sure about the last two items… a big port job on the blower is very common with half of the Quick 20 List PD blower guys running a Kong or Jokerz port on their 2650’s... And you’re not getting max power out of your blower spinning only 15,000 RPM lol…so yeah, you’re gonna be spinning the heck out of it for a max effort build. I’ll let Jason comment on his blower speed but thought he was in the 25K-26K range…. That’s zinging for sure!

He has mentioned 40k, maybe higher. I asked Greg about mine spinning to 25k, and he was unconcerned.

It peaks at about 30k in 6th gear since we have to run it out for the 1/4 mile.

Yeah so you’re probably in the 26K range for most of the run since 30K is probably at 7600 rpm or so I’d guess? 30K is powdered bearing dust land lol

Yeah around 26k is the minimum after a gear change. I got pretty worried the couple times the trans didn’t shift and the car didn’t honor the traditional rev limiter for some reason and it hit 8400-8500. I guess thankfully the engine keeps flowing up there while the blower can’t because MAP just dropped significantly and everything survived.

The low-9s Camaro on top is much more fun and less work than was the mid-6s GTO on the bottom.

Ouch, at 8400-8500 hopefully it didn’t float the valves at all. I’m sure your valve springs are as solid as the rest of that killer engine! Titanium valves?

Well, 2 of 3 times it didn’t cause an issue, but we tried a different converter once and the car just blew through it causing the engine to free rev basically. This was the results of that. Pretty sure valves floated before it snapped off a rocker stand on my CID heads since the engine had no load. It does have titanium valves.

Ah, I remember you telling us about that rocker stand before but don’t think we got the backstory… ouch!
