I own a 2013 Silverado 3500 in Black, and is the only black vehicle I will ever own. I am very OCD when it comes to keeping my vehicles clean, and its way more time consuming to keep it looking good. I guess it depends on how much maintenance time you want to spend and what your level of OCD is for keeping it looking clean. Just prepare yourself for the needed level of commitment.....

Of course, if you have the energy and time to clean and polish at that frequency, it can be managed, although one can only do so much paint correction on ~5 mils of clearcoat that the Camaro has.

Interesting, that makes sense. On the other hand, I figured the lighter the car the more likely mud and debris would show up versus dark colors like black it just tends to make the color look "charcoal" which can be fun for short periods of time. Never owned a white car, I guess I've just been used to dealing with the issues of black paint for most of my life.

Black I guess is kind of a bitch especially if you park in the direct sun a lot.
I'm kind of a shade ninja since I hate the thought of my car baking in the sun, so I don't really find the inevitable swirls too terrible. I don't feel the need to constantly maintain a pristine finish, more so a once in a while maintenance. Ceramic coatings/wax helps with that schedule.
Any color Camaro will get dirty in the same amount of time, even if you don't notice it as badly I'd still know my car was dirty and want it washed.

I do think this car looks especially great in black. When building my order, I kept coming back to that color after much deliberation, knowing the potential downsides. I've had the car a year now and still no regrets. Every time I see my "Bat Mobile" I still smile.

+1 !!!

I had a white one, now have Panther Black Metallic. The white was a whole lot easier to keep clean.

I had a black SS and yes it was very difficult to keep clean and shows every swirl and imperfection like it is magnified or something. It would literally be dirty after washing because any spot of water will leave a mark! I have a white one now and much prefer the easier cleaning and look. I love black Camaro just wouldn't want to own another one.

I was going to get it ceramic coated, thought that might help but the paint correction alone was going to be super expensive.

I've had my black 1SS since 2016, and I don't regret it at all. I had a 2015 1SS in black before that one as well. It's for sure a PITA to keep clean and to learn how to clean properly without swirling and spiderwebbing it, but there's countless YouTube videos on how to do it properly. Great practice on the 2015, but damn did I make a lot of mistakes and learn my lesson on taking care of and washing and detailing a black car.

The one thing to avoid like the plague is automatic car washes. I see black cars when I drive by those places and cringe. Mine's never touched one. The gray will be a heck of a lot more forgiving for sure on detailing and take less elbow grease to keep clean, but being biased, of course, black just looks awesome. This is my second Camaro SS in black (and I had a 2012 V6 in gray) and when I garage my 2016 soon, since it's my daily, I'll still get a black car, after at times swearing I wouldn't. They just look damn good IMO.

Edit. And it's not a garage queen. My profile picture it was around 100k I think. I'm pushing 112k now, and it still looks great. Lot of work, but worth it.
