color choice

I'm looking at a 2023 gray LT1 and a 2024 black LT1 equally equipped. The Black has super low miles but never had a black car and wondering if I could live with it. Your comments please. Thanks.

While I love my car, I prefer black cars which is a subjective opinion. I just think cosmetically you can make a mean looking car in black.

Black looks good for the first 15 minutes it's clean. Then it doesn't. If I had more of a choice, I would of gone with something with a little color. But the price was too good to pass up so I got what I got. But it does look mean, especially with tint on everything.

Black = Level expert in care.
I had a 2010 and 2012 Mustang GT in black and yea it looks great they will show every defect. My OCD after I polished them to perfection drove me nuts trying to keep up. I will never own black again. now if your not a crazy detailer like me then go for it.

I'd get the 2024 no questions asked. Low miles, last production year, and to me black is a great color. It does take a lot to maintain, but you just have to realize you can't flip out over every speck of dust.

At the end of the day, only you know what colors you can live with.

I love my Black Z! . It was between Satin Steel(color of my Silverado) and Black. I was really torn so my wife said..."Well, if you got the Satin Steel and you were at a stop sign and saw a black one go by, would you wished that you would have gotten the black one?" To which I said "Yes"...she said.."get the black one then". . So I did and have ZERO regrets...sure, it shows the dust more than other colors, but something about a all black sports/Muscle car that just looks badass! Ceramic coating is your friend!

As mentioned above, black is practically impossible to keep clean (I'm not making this up, we have a black SUV). All hues of gray that were available for the 6th gen look pretty good, that's the one I would go with. Unless you feel very strongly about getting the last model year, but truth to be told, the LT1 is the barebones V8 trim, nothing special about it, so it's unlikely to have better resale value long term than a 2023.

Yeah, I've owned no fewer than four black vehicles and while I love them when they're clean, they're never clean. They also show swirls and blemishes really easy. To me, the gray/silver/graphite colors are the sweet spot. Also, I think the "murdered out" all-black look is getting old. Personally, I like a little contrast between my primary paint color and accents (wheels, aero, etc).

Black looks great when clean but it is a PITA to keep it looking like that! Get the other and you will save a good amount of time doing something else other than cleaning and polishing! HA!!! my last two vehicles were black and I wished I would have never gone that route.

Imho black looks best but is hardest to keep clean, my daily driver is white which looks ok but is easiest to keep clean.

Ive had two black cars and would def buy another, I didn't find Black to be any more care intensive than any other color though I did use some formulated for black specific products. The only time I think it was any kind of an issue was i had black on black on black and would get pulled over for my tint, which measured at ~35%, (the legal limit) and the Deputy would look at me all silly, ya the whole thing is black, black paint, interior, wheels, so the tint does appear darker than it would measure"...

No you can't live with it. It would be a terrible, probably even traumatic ownership experience. Do yourself a favor and go with gray for all the reasons mentioned above. There are way too many black LT1s on the road.

Besides who in their right mind would want something that looks like this in their garage:

I have had two black Camaros and yes they are tough to keep clean and swirl marks. I also think the "murdered out" look is getting old and not for me. The lighter colors show the body lines better and one reason I have the white one now. Good luck on your choice.

I try to keep my mouth shut, but this is probably an appropriate place to share. I'll never understand the "black cars are hard to keep clean". Now I'm not saying those people are wrong. I'm saying I've owned various black cars since I was a teenager because it's my favorite color period. It was something I had to have. And I guess now I'm good a paint care because to me it's a non issue? I also don't think black cars look particularly bad when dirty. They just look dirty, like all the other dirty cars. That said, I do wash my cars close to once a week, at least once a month and paint correction when needed. So maybe my "normal" is just not normal
