If I’m not mistaking, which I usually am according to my wife! The ZL1 has a slightly faster Top speed than the ZLE only because of the downforce from wing and planes. If anybody else would like to substitute for my wife and tell me I’m wrong I can live with it because I already have been for the last 25 years.

https://carbuzz.com/news/the-chevy-c...he-1le-package "Chevy claims the standard Camaro ZL1 tops out at 202 mph, so you might think the 1LE could achieve a similar top speed. As it turns out, those aero parts come into play at high speed, severely limiting the 1LE's performance. The Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds had access to a red 2019 ZL1 1LE (with a six-speed manual) to run down a 3.22-mile runway. 3.22 miles should be plenty to hit 200 mph but the 1LE was only able to achieve 178 mph. This is still an impressive top speed but is significantly off the pace of the standard ZL1." Last edited by george; 09-29-2023 at 03:03 AM. |

Since we're on the subject, let's have a little bit of fun.
Here's the Z06 at NJMP Thunderbolt in stock trim. The guy is a fantastic driver (Probably better than me even) but the car was allllllll over the place seemingly ready to let go at any given moment. Hot Lap starts at 4:53 In my oldie but goodie vid, I took a stock ZL1-1LE to an even faster time than the video above. My car was so composed I could've had a cup of coffee. Hot Lap starts at 18:58 My video almost looks BORING by comparison. The ZL1-1LE for me is the platform that MOST folks will go faster in without being a highly skilled driver. I'm of the belief that you really need to be at the upper echelon of Advanced group talent to extract the performance out of the new Z06. On the other hand, you can be a complete idiot and still go quickly in a ZLE. In that first vid, I liken it to the game we used to play as kids at the dinner table. We'd balance on two legs of the chair at the dinner table and just as we were about to topple over backwards, we'd save it. From that video, driving the Z06 is very much like that. You need to be comfortable catching that front end as it threatens to break loose time after time after time again. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing about that video inspires confidence in the capabilities of that car. In all fairness, the 1:30 he ran is NOT slow. That's at the faster end of A group here. I'm focusing on the skill required to keep that car in line. |
