After 5+ years on this forum, I can't believe I missed such a topic, especially one that I am all about eliminating the moment I heard of it.

Rob, thanks for the de-pinning advice, but I'm going to get that $20 connector. Any ambient noise I can eliminate is welcome. It's difficult to have a conversation on the freeway, and maybe this will help.

Do you have a link or part number for this connector? I didn’t see it on their site. Thank you!

I could not find it on their site, so I emailed them after hours. I'll post it up after I get a response.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a magic bullet that will solve all of your issues if you have some drone, but it DEFINITELY will be a much welcome change to those painful frequencies being unnaturally produced by the audio system.

I know there are several threads on this but due to the fact that they are usually targeted for audio purposes I don't think a ton of people do in depth digging within the threads to see if it'll help shift the frequency spectrum in cabin. The fact that the car always sounded different with the windows down or the sunroof open was a real oddity to me so I started digging deeper.

It makes sense that disconnecting it will shift the overall hz output within the cabin. Hopefully this helps your tinnitus issue or otherwise sensitive ears if you don't have what I have.

Looks like the part number is: 6G-BZ-ANC. Looks like they have it bundled with another harness right now but don’t see why they wouldn’t sell it separately.

I just called them up and ordered it. $30 total with shipping. They don't list the part separately, but they sold it to me anyway.

Let us know how it works out for you. Hopefully this "mod" helps you out some!

Any benefit to turning off ANC if there are no stereo or exhaust mods?

Here’s another option guys. I’m going to order one now that I have an AWE touring axle back. For you guys that are in to audio they have some Wavtech and Pac products that will give you a nice flat signal to your aftermarket amps.

Potentially. You could always disconnect connector X3 entirely and take the car for a spin on the road and the freeway see if you notice any difference at all. If it stays the same or everything gets worse, leave it as is.

This might help locate the connector and the wires:

That thread highlights the 2SS (maybe the I4?), and they use a different variant of the Bose amp. Ours only has 5 wires on it for the connector that needs modifying. The microphone wiring and the gray/ green stripe CAN BUS wire connection.
