Must be mine only then....maybe I'm just used to my other cars. I just have never had a car with paint that will scratch by looking at it.

I have tried everything to buff out this scratch and no luck. I have never seen such delicate paint on a car. Is this a thing with Cheverolet paint or did I just get extra unlucky?
My 15 finish is pretty "soft" as well. I have to be very gentle or It gets scratches in the finish. The rest of my cars/trucks have been pretty good. The handful of new camaros I have seen in the lots seem to have a excessive amount of swirl marks on them but other models like trucks and suvs not so much.

Just wanted to add i don't think the paint is garbage from my standpoint but it could be better no doubt.

dont try buffing the honda paint too much...ask me how i know.wound up having to repaint hood and front bumper on a 3 year old civic .the clear was barely there at all...

The paint on these cars is absolute garbage no question at all. From thin and runny clear to metallics with all the depth of cardboard to blending between panels like a Maaco Friday at 5pm repair job. It's by far the weakest aspect of the car, and not just because the rest of the car is fantastic. The paint can be just plain trash quality, and it's not totally hit or miss. On the other hand if you're the type using only one rag to wash your car then you're part of the problem too. Not talking about you OP, smart and bought a bunch of rags to cycle through, just a disclaimer that not all paint issues are on Chevy by default although I do consider their Camaro sprays to be below absolute minimum viable.

I've thought about a respray and paint correction but my car is practically brand new, and I did PPF + ceramic already. You will probably just need a cheap clear touch up for the described scratch. I have satin steel metallic I'm no joke about to just trade it in for a flat red/blue/orange color the panel blending is so bad. Chevy really boned the beagle with this and to add insult to injury for '22 you pay an up charge for those single step colors. That's not really a deal all things considered, though in an overarching sense I believe the car still is one.

Most folks don't pay too much attention to paint and even fewer folks bother struggling to keep their paint in perfect display form at all times. Paint will never stay flawless forever in any case, best you can do is be nice to it from the outset. Clear bra, ceramic, touchless washing, spot cleaning, don't eat ass at the track or behind dump trucks and get rock chips, so on and so forth. All about proper prior planning, all of it combined really can make most paint jobs look really good and last a long time.

I mean its not a deal breaker for me, but damn…lol see below pics. Kinda hard to see but the long one is from the new rag, the other is a blemish from who knows what. Rubbing it with spit and my finger left swirl marks

Depends on the paint. Not all camaro paint is hard or soft. Haven’t done it to my camaro but seen it on it on other cars.

That tag can definitely scratch, that’s why high quality MF will come edgeless and tagless.

In the future rip the tags of before use or buy better MicroFibers.

The Rag Company makes great ones but aren’t cheap. Look at their Eagle Edgeless series.

A good Dual action polisher and a decent polish with a little cut and you should be good.

Overall, the paint pretty much sucks. My first 6th Gen had a clearcoat respray (front nose and hood, at factory) I know this because the clear was most definitely thicker and realized why….there was light overspray on the windshield (used a razor to clean off). That cars nose and hood was perfect at almost 10K miles. However, other areas of the original “factory coat” would chip and scratch easily.

My Tundras paint was much worse than my Camaro paint. Although it is well known Toyota uses a thin clear coat on their vehicles compared to Chevy at least that is what the Tundra forum told me.

I haven't found a softer paint in my experience so far. It's ridiculous. Like the OP said, I can take a microfiber cloth from Adam's and scratch the clear if I'm not careful. It's crazy.

My 21 is extremely soft... Had to find new products to use on it because my typical pads and compounds would leave a finish I was unhappy with. Finishing it out perfectly is more tricky, that's for sure.

Worked on other brands of cars as well, never had much issue.

My previous Toyota (Scion xB) had a clear that was rock hard in comparison, even though people complained that it was super soft too... Yeah right! Had to use aggressive compounds and pads to remove swirls and it cleaned up flawlessly without following up with more delicate combinations.

Most people complain that every automaker has the worst paint... Because most don't know how to properly care for them. However, the Camaro really does indeed have a super soft clear, no question.

this 100%. anyone who disagrees has not done enough with their paint to know any different.

get out the lights and put your glasses on, fellas. you can scratch your paint by giving it a stern look.

the quality of paint application is meh. my trunk lid is orange peeled BAD, but the rest of the car is decent.

Poor paint

I have a 2022 1SS with the wild cherry tintcoat. Just took a 3,400 mile cross country trip with it. The car performed flawlessly, but after returning home tried to clean the car up. Honestly, every bug splatter on the painted plastic parts, like the mirrors, front end, bumper, etc. cannot be removed. I have tried several "bug remover" products, wax, etc. but nothing will remove. There are hundreds of these across the front end. I'm a speed limit driver so there weren't any high speed sprints.
I don't see any other related complaints, so I'm wondering if this specific color was pathetically soft. Doesn't sound right, but it really appears to be "in" the finish now, and not on it. Buffing may improve, but hate to resort to that for bug splatter. Suggestions, or similar experiences? Thanks

Ive seen residue if you don't get it right off if it sits on the paint it can leave a ghosted image there and ya it needs a little compound. But I don't think it's worse than any other car I've had. I keep a MF and detailer in the trunk. Bird droppings are bad, too.
