Yes, those GM engineers really killed it with the A8 shutter situation….only took them 5 years to figure out the fluid….

For a stock car you should stay with the stock equipment. But FYI you aren’t making 1K WHP with the stock paper air filter…and if you do you just left a crap load of power on the table.

A regularly rinsed and lightly oiled K&N cone here, but I'm not completely convinced it needs oil.

For a toy car that will likely die due to performance upgrades then contamination wear I wouldn’t worry about it (unless in a dust bowl).

However oil analysis is a direct result of the oil filter not the air filter. I don’t see the correlation there. These larger particles (silica dust in air) will absolutely be removed by the engine oil filter (~10-25 micron). Keep in mind you can’t see below 40.
Spot on….

No oiled filters for me. I've had my share of engineers tell me to avoid them.

That oil doesn't stay on the filter and will get into the MAF and engine. No thanks. The power gain is negligible(if any) compared to the cost and pita of the maintenance anyway.

Always amazed to hear the regurgitated urban legend about these filters. Everything you stated couldn't be further from the truth. Hellcat's come with oiled cotton filters from the FACTORY since 2019, is this because SRT engineers determined Hellcat engines are more durable than GM engines? The question is rhetorical...

I wonder how many, of those who have commented, have done ANY testing, like Z' has... At least he's done SOME sort of testing to back-up his assertions.

The way I see it is if a person wants to run an aftermarket CAI or the OEM one then that’s their choice!

Just facts. Do your oil samples and let the facts speak for themselves. My silicon has actually dropped since using a Rotafab oiled filter element vs the dry filter element.

I'm considering that intake. I see you have a catch can, which is one of my questions. Where do you put the PCV fitting that would normally plumb into the intake elbow (assuming you don't want to drill the carbon fiber)?

I've been running RotoFab CAIs since 2010 starting with my NA G8GT, then with a Magnuson SC. I've run them on my 2015 SS, 2016 SS NA and SC and once again on my 2022 SC Lt1 Camaro. I've never had any failures or dirt filtrate thru these dry filters. Not sure where all this BS about aftermarket filtering causing engine issues. Maybe if you live on a dirt road and never clean the filter out. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, plenty of bad information out there. Its up to the owner to take care of their vehicle including replacing the stock filter or cleaning the aftermarket filter if that's what you are running. Failures are generally due to the owner not doing proper maintenance.
