Yeah, you think the initial bite is too high?

The problem is I have video evidence that shows sometimes the car does initially start to slow down really well, then stops slowing down well part way through braking (usually when turning in), but if the initial bite was the issue, you'd think that would not be the case...

In other examples, it happens right away. So it seems to go both ways

What size Apex wheels are you running. I run Apex 19s at autox and run into ice mode, but on the OEM 20s setup on road courses ive never had the issue

I'm also using stock brakes.

Just realized I (and others in my situation) have one more option to get rid of Ice Mode... I have an updated 2019 ZL1 EMCB ABS Brake Module but not one from a ZL1 1LE (because I haven't been able to find one yet) so I'll keep looking...

I went into the gravel and I was only about a foot away from slamming into a dirt embankment…

I’ve tried everything I know now; applying the brakes gently, leaving a little bit of time between throttle and Brake application, reducing brake pad fiction (Albeit only slightly from hawk 70 to 60)… the only thing I have not tried yet is slicks…

If this point, I am never going to the track again, unless I can convince myself that there is an obvious feel safe answer, since there has been about three or four times now (each time I’ve gone lately) that I’ve ended up only a few feet away from many thousand of dollars worth of damage. And the psychological toll it has taken in terms of not having confidence in my car when heading into corners at high speeds it’s getting extremely hard to overcome.
There's another thing you haven't tried. Going back to the OE Ferodo HP1000 pads.
Go back to basics.

That’s true, but I thought I read that other people have this problem even with stock, OEM Pads?

Plus, I just honestly don’t think I can go back, I never liked those OEM parts for the track, their performance certainly plummets when they get hot, I don’t even like those pads for the street anymore to be honest.

I think I said I would post this, so here it is

There is a very quick throttle to brake transition, more than I would like, but again, I want more margin for "error" than this when I'm driving hard, sick and tired of it not able to concentrate on fast laps when I'm worried about my brake stopping me from crashing

Laguna Seca front straight braking with ZL1 1LE tires setup and no ice mode.

brake zone before corkscrew going over crest and uneven surfaces

BCD brake setup with Carbotech XP20 front pads and ZL1 oem rear pads. Hopefully I never encounter it

I haven't encountered the hard pedal at Laguna Seca, but I can make it happen on Thunderhill west pretty consistently. Whatever the exact formula is for ice mode, I just don't get there at Laguna, maybe it's my poor braking techniques, I dunno. All the things I have read here that amplify ice mode, I have. Pre 2019, 18 inch square wheels, aggressive brake pads.

I get it going into turn 9, downhill short straight and hard braking zone with a little steering angle. I know you're familiar with it, I watched your 1:22 lap in your Tesla ... Flying!!!

Friend of mine has a 2020 SS 1le, when he was completely stock he wouldn't get it there. I'm curious what happens now that he's got a square setup.
