Of course just busting chops here, probably my next car will be the dark horse.

I thought so also, then ended up in a ZL1. Cost was way too close.

That's a little depressing, I know they raised the price on them recently, but thought they were like 55-60k?

Are they upwards of 70k+ now?

gotcha, I knew they got an upgrade over the gettrash but wasn't sure exactly

Hey FordGuyWhoBoughtCamaro, to the forums and congratulations on your future 2SS. You'll love this car. What options did you order it with?

The way things are heading, we'll soon better become one tighter sports/muscle family anyway, I don't diss Challenger guys and can also thoroughly appreciate a good GT350 with that fantastic Voodoo engine sound.

...that 2SS 1LE tho, man, you should've snagged it, trust me, you'll miss the wider tires and wheels, then the brakes, maybe even the seats over time...

Yeah it's not the best. There's a lot of cures people try to do by changing the clutch, trans fluid, shifter, etc. and that does help but not enough.

This is true. Although I do think with the Shelby and Mach 1 they "worked them over" with better synchros and stuff.

You said Dark Horse. Now a 5.0 might be 50K-ish but the Dark Horse I pre-ordered was mid-60. TOO much. Great car I am sure, but no ZL1.

According to Ford's sight the DH starts at 60 - the premium is 62. NUTS, N U T Z!

Yeah, i might regret it, but the cost was too much, im already stretching as it is. My options are, Rapid Blue, Ceramic white interior, 6/4 piston brembos, 6 speed, illuminated footwells, and the black spoiler/mirrors. Considered magneride, but decided against (feel free to try to change my mind here)

When I was ordering, I considered the same thing. I really was close to going with a 1LE, but my budget was just being stretched for something that wouldn't be used to its full capacity. To me, get the trim within your budget, but don't skimp on some options to spruce it up. A 1SS was worth it for me over an LT1, and then I added some little things here and there (mostly cosmetic like the wheels, red brakes, etc.). NPP was a must for me as well.

Understood, and you are getting a fantastic car either way. I don't have a 1LE either, after all

These are good options, magnetic ride control is a nice to have but not essential. You ordered the big brakes, which is very good. You'll want to switch out the tires for some proper non-runflat Michelins or Continentals. Oh, and about that ceramic white interior, it's beautiful but you need to be careful with your clothing, I heard that some jeans can leave marks on the white pleather.

As I said, you will love this car, and if you want to mod it later, you have plenty of options

I appreciate the advice. Any other words of wisdom on options i havent chosen or discussed? I have a few various cosmetic things like fuel door, and center console options. How about ppf and ceramic coatings? Any experience?

I think you chose well, you'll have the essentials—most other options, except some 1LE content, can be retrofitted much cheaper anyway, and you'll probably enjoy installing badges, vinyl, the occasional console lid, carbon fiber dash panel or even side skirts yourself.

In terms of avoiding rock chips in the rear from the front tires (because our girls have a beautiful wide booty), my experience is that rock guards and side skirts combined give you the best protection. I have Rokblokz splash guards, these are the best of the mudflap style variety (check out my other posts about them). Those who want a more OEM look typically buy luxury rock guards from ACS Composite, those look nice but offer much less protection. Side skirts are a matter of taste, I have ZL1 style skirts from C7 Carbon and love them.

As to your other question, we are in pretty subjective territory here, because some people want to avoid every single rock chip if possible while others wear them as badges of honor.

I have PPF on all front facing panels and mirrors, and the entire car is ceramic coated. PPF, and the self-healing type in particular, makes you much less susceptible to paint damage indeed (especially since the clearcoat gm uses is pretty soft and weak), but it's very expensive, a lot of labor beacuse of the tricky contours in the front. Ceramic coating helps with washing the car, and is affordable if you are able to apply the coating yourself, otherwise I'm not sure I would do it again because I don't see the value for the money.
