I'm pretty new to these forums. As a diehard Ford guy I had to eat some humble pie in ordering a 2SS Camaro....but after driving several mustangs, I just can't get over that MT-82 . Drove a couple Camaros and I can't deny, that Tremec makes the driving experience a complete joy . Why Ford had to go ruining that awesome 5.0 with that trans is beyond me . Who knows if my order will be picked up, in at 8 dealers right now

Going to need some context with MT-82.

I thought Ford and GM co-developed the A10 transmissions for both Mustangs and Camaros? MT-82 Manual I assume?

the MT-82 is a Getrag 6 speed which has a pretty so-so reputation. the Mach 1 mustangs come with same tremec 6060 that the Camaro comes with IIRC

You going to track the 2ss? That's where the car is really going to shine. And oh btw get used to every swingin dick mustang revving at you everywhere you go...those damn things are a dime a dozen haha

I've never tracked anything, but maybe I will, seems like it would be a fun time. Seems like I won't know about the mustangs till next year tho, the way ordering these things is like.

I had a 2014 Mustang 5.0 before the Camaro. It's a really great engine, revs high, and sounds amazing. Never an ounce of trouble with the car. That said, Ford really did drop the ball with the MT-82. They should have used the Tremec across all models, not just the Mach 1 and Shelby.

Hopefully your order gets picked up at one of the dealers.

I test drove a GT PP1 6 speed and i liked the looks and the interior quite a bit, and it sounded great too but that 6 speed that they used was just a clunky ****ing mess. I considered going up to the Mach 1 but i was able to get my 2ss with 1LE for some 10k less than the Mach 1 and it was a no brainer.

I actually had a 2SS 1LE in my hand, the deal fell thru and dealer offered it to me, in the color I spec'd, but like you, it was 10K more than I wanted to pay, so I passed.....may come back to bite me

The Gen3 5.0 is awesome. All that power with quite a bit less displacement. They can be made much faster than an SS for a fraction of the money.

Camaros are like mopeds. They are fun to drive until your 5.0 friends catch you in one. Because they know you can now 1/4 mile them out of the box.



Of course just busting chops here, probably my next car will be the dark horse.

Just an fyi Mach 1’s (and GT350’s) do not come with TR6060’s. They come with the TR3160 which is less heavy duty and what’s in the V6/I4 camaro’s. So while an improvement Ford still cheaped out. The torque capacity of the 3160 is less than the 6060.
