once on the cribs, I put the jack on the ZL1 pads as an extra safety net.
right when they make contact of course Last edited by 302crossram; 04-01-2023 at 02:06 PM. |

I use cut to size railroad timbers for jack stands and support on the pinch welds
When I need to put the rear on stands and not the cribs, I lift the rear from the support brace above the rear diff the way lethal camaro did in his video my jack stands.... |

I have 4 of the 10" wheel cribs. They work great. Plenty of room when working under all 4 or just 2 in the front.
PSA: Make sure your low profile jack gets up above 19" or so because you can't get your crib under the wheel when your jack doesn't go above that measurement. Unfortunately, my jack is just an inch below that threshold and I have to put 2x12 wood blocks under the wheels and jack to make it work. A pain in the rear. |

I assembled and used my 5000xl QuickJack for the first-time last weekend. It was difficult to figure out the exact perfect locations for the blocks inside the QJ support areas, marked them with tape for easy set up for future uses. It is absolutely awesome gives plenty of clearance minimum 18 inches to the bottom of the rocker panels.
I got it at Costco with a special bundle includes the pinch weld blocks and hanging brackets I think it was $1200. Try it!!! Excellent quality but you definitely have to know what you're doing with the setup before lifting you could definitely bend the frame or it could fall off if you don't set it up right and catch all 4 pinch welds in the right spot and evenly distributed. I plan on changing out my brake fluid to Dot 4 next weekend it will be easy to do up in the air with all 4 wheels off. |

Wouldn’t it be safer to put rear wheels up first? |

Then I get more 2x12s stacked (3") so I can get the jack on top of those to elevate the front of the car high enough to get a 10" crib under 1 wheel after removing the original blocks. Then I have to repeat the entire process for each wheel. I need to get a taller jack for sure. |

So I bought the 12" wheel cribs from race Ramps. After buying I read a few threads with people Saying 12" was too high, etc. I can confirm that is not true at all. The 12" worked beautifully for me today while installing my corsa extreme catback. I used 2 low profile jacks from harbor freight to lift the front, place the wheel cribs and then repeat on the back. I have the zl1 add on lift pads installed and placed 1 hockey puck on each jack. It worked perfectly and was not sketchy at all. Had my wife work 1 jack and I worked the other at the same time. Just fyi both of my harbor freight jacks have a 24" max lift but were not maxed out.

Just another vote to use 2 jacks! You need that safety.
Also, be careful with the hockey pucks. The more things in between the jack and the car, the more things that can slip out or fail. |

Just did this yesterday..... Let me tell you all the issues. I'll post pics shortly. I bought 4 race ramps that have an internal jack. I rolled the back end onto the ramps. Then jacked up the front end as I have 2 heavy duty floor jacks. The jack points were my ZL1 addon jacking pads. You must remember that your floor jacks will "walk" under the car. So #1 is making sure the "walking" pathway isn't going to be an area you need while the jack still has the car up (or in my case, where you'll need to lay a protective plywood board). Also, the front wheels will hang so you need to make sure that you'll get the front wheel up enough when the shocks are pressing them down, and it's not like you're going to be able to lift your wheels up and slide the ramp underneath. So you need to calculate your lifting correctly. If you don't, you will be raising and dropping the car again and again. Fortunately for me, I was close enough to figure it out. Caution: if you use a board to put the jack on in order to raise the effective height of the jack, it must be long enough for the walking of the jack, which will be significant, about a foot.
