Yea, the latch is visible if you climb in the trunk and stand on your head, but it's tough to release.

You'll be better off buying a strap off some sort and attaching it to the mechanism that releases the seats than trying to fish for it with a trim tool.

The strap can be placed above the seat so you can pull it to release the seats.
