I'm now rocking the Pilot Sport A/S 4 and its no longer stupidly easy for the car to break traction, so problem solved.
The compound certainly matters, hence summer only versus all seasons etc., but sidewall depth and tire width also matter. There's no way you're getting the full potential out of your car with 255/35s out back. Even with the OEM tires I can still break the rears loose if I turn off the nannies.

Not if the driver shuts off traction control and go 1 more step and double tap TC and shut off ESC also. ESC really doesnt interfere with straight line pulls and low speed WOT pulls unless the car starts to kick out the rear end.

With the PSAS4 the car is not cutting power with TC and SC disabled and traction is not an issue. I've never experienced an all season tire that actually had grip like this.
Generally I agree of course summer tires are better and if controlled for compound, wider is better too.
If I didn't want the option to drive in light snow I would put on summer tires in a second.

So your claim is that 255 PSAS4 tires provide enough grip that a 6th gen Camaro with a 6.2 engine and nannies off won’t spin under WOT from a stop? Sorry, I don’t believe that.

haha. I'm running my 255 square winter setup right now. As far as performance driving, it handicaps the car hugely. I'll be able to switch back to summers in less than a month, but the 6.2 easily overpowers 255s.

Facts right up there! The stock 245's or anything 255 etc will just be shredded eventually. I run a 285/305 setup for summer on the LT1. And it's lovely!

It hooks! Must be a black magic tire compound. Its an A/S so I'm not sure how repeatable it is once they get warm but on the street with everything off it hooks.

I stand corrected. Floored it from a dead stop in 1st at it spun.
But from a 5 MPH roll in 1st it hooks where as the stock tires would light up.

I've spun mine hitting second gear at about 30 mph, though admittedly it was a colder day and not the best road surface.
