You'd love an EV!

Burning out and launching will definitely attract the attention of LEOs.

I have no problem with that. I'm just pointing out that the legality of 155+ mph isn't a particularly strong argument against buying a car that will exceed that. If that were the case, why build a Corvette that will go even faster? Why build all the Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ferraris etc. that exceed that speed? If there wasn't a demand for that capability they wouldn't be building cars that could do it.

Wanting a car with a higher top speed is just as legitimate as wanting one with a faster quarter mile or 0-60 time.

From my perspective that's the biggest knock against the LT1 (and the crappy tires that make it a necessity), other than the name, which is pretty uninspired.

But the LT1 is still a great deal to get into a fine handling V8 powered muscle car.

That's why I said "to a certain extent", I didn't necessarily mean running an entire 1/4...and as far as I know, there's no law that limits how quickly you can accelerate...

It’s not about doing the 150 mph, it’s about the feeling of having a car that’s capable of a high top speed straight from the factory. Having a car that can do 180 mph makes the inner child in me feel good. When kids are into cars, the first thing they always ask is how fast can it go and I like to think that if I found out when I was 10 years old that I would eventually get a car capable of doing 180 mph straight off the show room floor, that I would have made my 10 year old self very happy and proud. I know this isn’t an objectively sound reason, but this is why I like cars that can do 150+ even if I can never hit that speed.

Like the feeling of owning a car capable of 4 second 0-60, or 12 second 1/4 miles. Doesn't mean it has to be driven like this all the time, just the fact that'll do it makes the car fun...

Same could be said for sub 4 second and sub 12 second car.

I personally think GM underestimates their 0-60 times with our cars whether its an LT1, SS or ZL1 I have seen people end up being 0.2-0.3 seconds quicker to 60 stock. When I was healthier a couple years ago I managed to beat it a few times as well when I could still launch my car. (stupid leg) I digress though bottom line is all trims are good for each specific person you just need to see what checks the boxes for you.

I'm using 35/255s on my stock LT1 wheels and can't be happier. I think the grip is more a function of the compound than the width. I'd rather have a better quality tire on a stock rim than a super wide rim with an average tire.

I'm now rocking the Pilot Sport A/S 4 and its no longer stupidly easy for the car to break traction, so problem solved.

I have no argument against getting an LT1. I just did an 8+ hour drive to Florida and I was impressed by my 0-60 leaving rest stops, impressed by the highway gas mileage (did another 100 miles after the included picture and broke 500 miles on tank on the way back), and the comfort behind the wheel driving stick the whole time, even in traffic. It fits in perfectly at the car shows I've been to in Atlanta and Tampa and has been all around excellent...
I would just change the stock tires (at least rear) as previously suggested to handle the power better.

Gotta disagree with you. When people say take it to the track what are there expectations? I have a 2LT RS LGX and track it, change to SRF, put on track pads, first couple years ran BF comp 2s and had a great time learning and pushing myself and the car. It handled and performed just fine for my skill level. If I want to improve the car I will put bigger brakes on the front, change out the sway bars, and maybe a set of coil overs. I already have a set of SC3s but it's too much tire for the brakes but anyone can have a blast in a Camaro at the track, not everyone has to run in the advanced class the intermediate class can be just as fun. No reason to discourage anyone who doesn't own an SS or 1LE not to try a road course.

Life is too short to run AS tires. Your TC and SC are pulling power to keep your car from breaking traction. You didn't magically equal the amount of traction a 275 or 305 summer would give you.

+1. I have 315 DR's and it still breaks loose on the street.

I was also of the belief that the SS front end was much better but the more I look at my LT1, I am liking it allot more. The only thing that bothers me about my LT1, that most people don't even think about, is the lack of Brembro's in the rear.
I also think the 16-18 look much more aggressive in the front, and even the 19 looks more aggressive than the 20-23, but overall the 20-23 look better.
