Meh, not sure I agree with that...if he had more seat time, he would have ended up with it all off I bet. The eLSD works regardless of PTM is being used, and the quickest Z06 times I know of are with PTM off (with VERY good drivers). The average track day guy will of course be quicker using various PTM modes...

I sent a message to Randy Pobst, he said he tried all modes and used track mode w/ nannies off during Motor Trend tests of the 1LE.

I figured that...plus the MT Best Drivers car says "likely" PTM 5 or ESC off. So it seems Race or all off was his choice...odd that an editor would not just ask the driver and write "likely" though.

It is certainly very good. I still remember the first time I interacted with it as a novice - it left an impression. Only the very best will be able to outdrive PTM in OE form...

However, the system is also pre-loaded with friction values for tires, spring rates, etc...so if you start changing things on the car...a really good driver could potentially do better than PTM in that case as well.

And that is exactly why I don't plan to switch out tires when it comes to track days/Auto X. The PTM is set up for the Goodyears so I don't want to mess with that winning formula!

Also for the other guys I talked to the MT guys when I was out at Laguna Seca while they were filming BDC. I was told they use PTM Race 99% of the time for the GM cars, aka the old ZL1, Z/28 and now 1LE. Maybe the Z06 was just an outlier due to the PTM limiting power since as we know the Z06 has trouble putting all the power down, but I can say with 100% certainty that all of the Camaros with PTM are in PTM 5/Race for benchmark times with MT, it's just that good.(according to them)

It will be included with your owners manual. I haven't looked at it yet. The sales man spent a good deal of time with me going over everything.

I know this is an old thread but my friend asked me about it .He just picked up a 2023 ZL1 and can't find the high performance supplemental manual. Dealer says order it from Chevrolet for $35 bucks. What, shouldn't it come with the car? Any info would help. And yes he is joining the forum.

Just google for it. No need to purchase. Or one of the guys on the forum may be able to share it with you.

Here's the 2023 supplement, although I doubt it would be much different from the 2021 RamAir02 uploaded. Tell your friend to spend that $35 on something nice for the wife instead .

The biggest difference I see from a quick glance is the requirement to use dexosR 0W-40 oil for track use now instead of Dexos2. This corresponds with the 2023 manual.

I guess that implies there might be added protection from using the Mobil1 Supercar 0W-40 DexosR oil instead of the Mobil1 ESP X3 0W-40 Dexos2 oil but maybe it is just marketing to justify a higher price on the DexosR oil.

Yes I found out about the rebranding after I stocked up on the AutoZone deal for Mobil1 ESP X3 0W-40 that is Dexos2 but not DexosR. At the time the photo was of the regular ESP (non-X3) but they have updated it now. I don't understand why Mobil1 now has both ESP X3 and Supercar 0W-40 as separate products.
