I recommend adding a roll of duct tape to the list of emergency tire repair items. I had a sidewall cut on a C5 Vette that would have been ok to drive if I could have fixed the cut in the sidewall. The run flat ended up spinning on the rim carrying the tire weight and gouging the rim.

That’s something all of us have to deal with as ZL1 and Camaro owners.I carry a tire inflator that I bought at Walmart years ago just in case the factory one doesn’t work. If you have a blowout that destroys the tire then you have to call a flatbed to come get you. I have either OnStar or a supplement on my insurance policy for towing and haven’t had to use it yet. Knocking on wood though!

NOTE:
If your car has the infamous 'fix-a-flat/inflator' in place of a spare, the can of fix-a-flat has an expiration date and should be replaced with a new canister every few years.

Best to take a look at your canister and see what the date on it is. It's be a shame to find out when the time came to use it that it expired 3 years ago.

Replacement canisters can be had at your local dealer.

Yes, on my previous 1LE and I used the provided compressor/goo kit. Was off the side of the freeway and on my way in about 15 minutes. I recommend leaving a plastic bag in the trunk for the empty goo can and compressor. It is very messy.

I carry a plug kit. If you can pull over to a safe spot to plug it then great otherwise just call a flatbed.

Busted a sidewall 50 miles from home at night. $235 tow bill on a flatbed to get it home. Tow hook in trunk made loading on flatbed easy.

I had a flat the first week I had my car! On the freeway not close to home, had to pull over , parked in business parking lot, called SOS and had 2 failed attempts of tow trucks try to come, both cancelled the trip. Waited about 2 hours then had someone pick me up, went home got my spare wheel /tire and came back mounted that thing myself and wet on my way. LOL

Had tire warranty but the policy hadn't activated yet.... fun stuff!

The fix a flat kit didn't work for shit either

LMAO I must have blown by post #10.

I had a modern spare in my Hellcat and it was nice to have just in case. I would throw it in the trunk if I needed to run out of town.

There's plenty of space in the trunk to accommodate a hydraulic jack and a full size wheel 19" 1LE. Keep wheel spacers in case the offset is incorrect Front vs Rear.

Spend $100 and buy a 450ftlb battery powered impact gun. If you buy the cord version make sure you have a long enough cord and a converter for your cigarette lighter. Buy the correct socket for the lugs. Buy a 140ftlb torque stick which you'll use when you tighten the lugs with the impact gun. This is so you don't strip the threads.

Next time you change tires, keep one of the old tires (Takeoff) and keep that mounted on the spare wheel.

It's a bit of an investment but worth the peace of mind if you're taking road trips in the car.
