I see Fox news has old people panicking again.

I have to agree...! There is a rule of no politics on this forum and it's starting to creep into so many of the threads. Makes it far less interesting to come here.

The problem is it has been creeping into every crevice of society as a wedge... How do you want to avoid it completely on a forum for a specific brand of ICE sports/muscle car?

Sure, we can talk about paint colors and rock guards all day long, but if you turn a blind eye to the eroding fringes, soon you'll find that there is nothing left to discuss.

Ideally, it wouldn't matter that much who you vote for, because everyone would have the nation's best interest at heart even if they had different ideas to bring that about (and trust me, in that scenario you'd see almost no political posts/rants here). Those days are long, long gone, so the appearance of political angles on these forums, at the moment, is inevitable.

Not disputing anything...I am just saying turn off the news, social media, and go live life.

Very easily... I'm a member of a Harley forum as well which does have a Political and Open Discussion sub forum. It is strictly enforced. Any thread that politics is brought up on outside of that sub forum, the mods move. It's very easy to avoid it, if the mods of the forum are doing their job.

Don't have rules if you are not going to enforce them. I come here to talk about Cars/Camaros...Not Politics...

There is good in reporting this type of news. See, we all are talking and getting outraged! Maybe this will get enough people in high places thinking this is not sensible. Just like the switch to electric power. Infrastructure not ready to go there with power companies not able to supply power during peak power times. lets hope they wake up to the little people.

Nah, never happen....lol....(It's a start, though)....Nah, won't happen...It's a conspiracy.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...out-leased-ev/

Ford has removed the end-of-lease buyout option for its customers who lease an EV such as an F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E after June 15, 2022.
Customers who've leased EVs prior to June 15 are in the clear; they can still do a buyout at lease end if they want.
It comes as part of Ford's plan to make its electric vehicles more affordable and to keep those batteries in the Ford network.
Ford has made a change to its lease policy that will prevent people leasing the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit EVs from choosing to purchase the vehicle at the end of the contract. The customers will need to return the vehicle, at which time they can either lease a new vehicle or simply return the car.

The reason, a Ford spokesperson told Car and Driver, is the desire to keep EVs "in the Ford network longer" to maintain control over battery recycling and materials. The news came in a letter to dealers earlier this month and, Ford said, affects 38 states now and the rest by the end of the year, so customers should check with their local dealers to find out where they stand.

It's worth noting that other automakers in the recent past have limited customers' ability to sell their lease to others outside the brand, in a move to keep their stock to themselves as the used-car market continues to be tight and prices go up.

I see and I even know we agree on so many of the issues discussed here.

Problem #1, though, unlike that Harley forum, this site has no place for politics (and religion, which I personally find disheartening as well), see screenshot below. This prohibition implicitly means politics will be expressed everywhere else.

Problem #2, let me try to illustrate the creeping penetration of the political angle with a few random examples below. Sure, there are still a couple areas left intact, but the line to be drawn between a political and a non-political post is now blurrier than ever.

And no, yours truly isn't one looking for juicy political bashfests here, you can check my 8K+ posts and see just how many of those were to ask a Camaro question, to help members with info, to welcome them etc. and how many were "political"; the former will be found in the overwhelming majority.
  • engine mods > most powertrain mods are illegal > politics
  • ordering > delays > shortages > covid > politics
  • supply chain > shortages > covid > politics
  • tuning > CARB states made it illegal > prohibitions are spreading > politics
  • oils > oem vs aftermarket > corporate behaviors driving recommendations > politics
  • EV future > EPA mandates > politics
  • drag strips > reduced selection due to dwindling numbers > politics
  • ask the camaro team > dead due to disbanding > corporate behaviors driving strategy > politics
  • ...
(Side note, I don't think moderators make a living off of this site, so it is simply not realistic to expect them to spend several hours a day just moderating and moving posts.)

Discussing a forum of world 'leaders' calling for the end of private vehicle ownership seems appropriate for a car forum. The big stink seems to be coming from those who object to the organization reporting it.

We do, and I don't disagree with anything you've pointed out. I was just saying, it is possible and the Harley forum has 10x's + the amount of traffic and posts on it. I swear the mods on that forum see a political post in a thread within 10 minutes and it's a warning, then moved. But Ya... I get this forum doesn't have a sub forum for it and the mods are pretty much non existent. It is what it is... I get that...

I personally just try to skip over the political posts in the threads.

This is why I rarely visit Camaro6 anymore. It was fun when the 6th gen was new, but now it's full of Doomers crying that the sky is falling because there's nothing better to do. The 6th gen never ended up seeing much sales success, the last few model years have gone unchanged, the team at GM is fully dissolved, and it's nearing the chopping block in a year or two.

I feel like Camaro5 is at the "acceptance" state in the stages of grief, and Camaro6 place is still very much at the "anger" state. People over at Camaro5 forums are at a point where they are just trying to help each other keep their cars running and don't get into these weird politics.

The 7th Mustang is coming out soon, and it will have a traditional ICE engine. Just saying... don't view a single car's failure as an industry-wide conspiracy.
