Speaking of electric cars I was at a natural gas peaker plant a couple weeks ago. They are starting to feel the pain of renewables and additional strain on the grid. This was in KY so probably minor compared to say CA issues.
They historically operate 5% of the time. It’s a small three turbine plant. Now they are running 30% of the time. Renewables are intermittent due to wind and solar fluctuations. That’s crazy, they weren’t designed for that. Coal plants provide the baseline level of energy (midwest). Demand that is always required, takes a coal plant around 24hr to fire up when it’s warm. Natural gas peaker plants can start producing energy in about 20min after getting the phone call to turn on. They cover higher demand like hot days (a/c increase, etc). Coal plants have went offline because renewables are cheaper for multiple reasons (subsidies on green and restrictions on coal) so the effect has been an unstable baseline of energy like we used to have. This means we need to start building more natural gas peaker plants or start expecting blackouts. But they won’t. We’ve already had some blackouts recently in the Midwest.

Expect more blackouts.
Want to see the green future? Look to Europe. Home energy costs are expected to approach $5,000+ PER MONTH this winter. This is the future the environmentalists want for us. I will not purchase anything from a manufacturer that has decided to eliminate ICE from their lineups. No more Dodge/Stallantis, no more Government Motors. Ford still retains ICE so I suspect another Mustang or F150 is in my future. |

According to Representative Jason Smith, ‘inflation reduction’ act contains $27 BILLION climate change slush fund for EPA- 3x its annual funding… Kudos to Ford if they endure these headwinds and continue to offer a V8 pony car, but I wouldn’t count in it…
If they do, I’ll be a fan for sure. |

Again it could be done and gets talked about. But don’t you simply wonder if it were really a good idea why someone wouldn’t have done it?
