With the A10 it doesnt matter what PTM or mode you use / anything other than tour will throw the car into performance shift mode which holds the engine rmp at 4.5+ all time he time- which i find excessive for the car and a novice driver. Hence this thread

I'd say let him just leave the car in Tour and let him get a feel for it. Then after a couple of sessions or laps change it to Sport.
No matter what mode you're in or off you're in Sport Comp or PTM. I mean, I haven't ever tried wet mode but maybe it'll be less aggressive for keeping the revs up? Read this that, it may have some answers for you https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496996 |

I’ve run into more than a few ZL1 owners who take a bit of time to get used to performance shift mode. Their most common feedback is the high rpms feel abnormal or downright wrong for someone new to track use. I recommend Touring and/or manual mode in 4th as someone else said; or between 3rd and 5th. And when you plan to get off track just go back into automatic mode. However, I strongly suggest letting the computer do what it does best in perf shift mode… and run PTM Wet on a dry track and just roll slowly into the throttle. Then little by little switch to a more & more aggressive PTM mode.
