Disable performance shift in track mode?

Hi -

My brother in law is going to be using my car for a novice track day. I have a A10. Given that tour mode is too slow/laggy and in sports / track the performance mode will get activated automatically, i am looking for a possible way to just stay in “regular “ track mode. I believe this mode will be the best for him to safely learn the track, yet have reasonable power/responsiveness.

Any possibility to make this happen? Or other ideas?

Thanks

My first trip I put it in track mode, pushed the traction control button twice then select sport 1. This will keep the car mode reasonable. I never felt that I was out of control.

Thanks thats a good option. I just feel that keeping the engine at redline (which is what performance shift will do) for a beginner is just unnecessary….both for the car and the driver

Honestly, Tour mode is plenty for a novice. Even if power is cut by half he'll still have more horsepower at his disposal than most of the other cars gridding up.

True- its not the power the tour mode is lacking - its just the responsiveness of the transmission. The A10 track mode transmission setting in ZLE without performance shift is a best way to start with the car in my opinion….

Just set suspension and steering to Track or whatever you prefer and leave the drive mode in Tour. You won’t be down on power, it just won’t activate Performance Shift Mode and you will get the Tour programmed throttle response.

IMO, I would drive in Track mode let PSM activate. It will drive a whole lot better as the systems detects the associated G-forces. It will hold gears better, provide proper engine braking, etc. If he is not going to push it then PSM may not activate anyway and even if it does it will disengaged if he is not pushing too hard.

Thats the thing- what i need is track setting for tranny. The suspension in zle doesnt really change anything and the steering is not the issue..

Unfortunately, you can't disable performance shift mode specifically, you'll need one or more of the workarounds mentioned here. As far as I know, there is no way to decouple the 'track' transmission shift map from performance shift mode.

With a manual he could just take the track in 4th gear.

Problem solved.

Why not just use the easiest mode in PTM?
