David, first sorry for the problems you are having with the car. Second, I would think that internal quality control would not allow red interior bits with an orange exterior car. I would go straight to Chevrolet and request what you ordered. As someone whose car has been sitting for 3 months already, I also have some nagging fears about quality.

I still wonder if the dealer made these changes. I don’t see GM giving away carbon fiber components when there is a shortage of them. I could see one item getting by , but not shift knob, dash insert, red belts and red knee pads. You are going to find out that there is more to this story.

Oh they did not give them. I was fully charged with over $1500 worth of stuff I did not order. It is on the MSRP Sheet. Kinda makes you wonder what else looks like carbon but is not? Original MSRP was 69k, New MSRP over 71k.

Then I think you will find out that the dealership ordered those items without your knowledge. GM didn’t change the order and bill you without the dealership being involved.

The dealership I used was a friend I have known for 47 years. He acted as surprised as I was.

It will be interesting to see what really happened. I’m still betting on someone in the dealership making the changes.

Couple of things: GM and the website say “carbon fiber style” or “look”. The website linked above says “The top cap of this shift knob has a smooth feel with a carbon fiber texture appearance which includes the Heritage Camaro Logo outline.”

And it is not $155 for just the cap. It includes the entire shifter. That said, yours shouldn’t fall off. I’d get it fixed under warranty if you bought it from GM that way.

I have the same shift knob.. got it for $7 after applying GM reward points. I agree, it’s not the best. I very lightly polished it and it looks a lot better (was dull …NEW). Thankfully the carbon look finish didn’t come off. I will say, it’s about as cheap as it comes. AND THE STOCK ZL1 shifter looks way better.

OP good luck, that’s definitely an odd situation you’re in. Orange and Red… not good.

If it is an A10 you can get the carbon fiber shift knob that includes a carbon fiber cap. I believe it replaces the default suede shift knob with ZL1 metal cap.

If we are talking M6, I thought this is the only carbon fiber looking cap/insert.

Notice the price difference if you order chevy parts after the fact as opposed to ordering with the car. I never order any of those little add-ons with the car when you can order them separate and use your GM points from the purchase of the vehicle.

At first, I thought the dealership was trying to pawn off a car that got delivered and someone backed out on, but if you have a friend and he's also surprised, then the plot thickens!!!!

It is the top shift nob. But that carbon piece on top is just tin with a carbon paint job. I glued it back on, hopefully it stays.
As for the red knee pads, My friend is on vacation this week, I am going to go to him next week.

Ok, is the knob/handle leather or alcantara? My understanding is these items are LPO dealer installed so they should have the original that shipped with the car.

You have the right idea about the knee pads David. That’s what I would do in your situation.
