When I called Kong and discussed my build (stock pulley, fuel system upgrades and ethanol) he told me the X port was totally worth it and should add 40rwhp. I guess it totally depends on your build and your goals.
To me, if you plan to continue modding your car why wouldn’t you spend $500 and get it all done the first time. No brainer. |

The combination of the KongX and GT100 added at least 150 to mine. HPE made 725/850 on 93 octane with a virgin OEM 1.7L and OEM TB.

Agreed.
I know I hate doing the same thing twice, and paying a second time to do the same thing. That's just my crazy. Stock blower's gonna hit harder than other alternatives though. I wouldn't argue that.

For me, the X port wasn't available when I modded my car, however the standard Kong port was worth about 30whp which seemed like a pretty decent bang for the buck at $1200 at the time I had mine done. I don't know that I would have paid another $500 for another 10whp. To really get the most out of the X port, you have to spin the blower really hard and then reliability becomes more of an issue along with IC temps. At some point, it just makes sense to go with the Maggie 2650. To continue to try to build a max effort Kong X port build means investing more in fueling too, at that point, might as well bite the bullet and go with the Maggie 2650 for the improved cooling. I just don't see the point in the X port unless you're trying to set stock blower records.

Don't get me wrong - I'd want to squeak as much as reasonable from my build. I wouldn't suggest there isn't a better way to spend my money, but that's just my OCD and wiring. I was in a similar situation when I started thinking about what I wanted to do. The X-port wasn't available yet, but the cooling is what pushed me. Do I benefit from all the theoretical cooling it has (I say theoretical, but I see it in my logs - I just never compared to stock)? Nope. BUT - I'm getting all the power I need and know I'm not stressing anything except the rear tires, lol. That - and I couldn't get to this power without doing it this way.

I agree with this. You need the fuel system upgrades to make use of the X port. If you think you might upgrade fuel in the future I’d get the X port. I’m doing fuel also now and probably a cam down the road so the X port is worth it to me. It’s not the most cost efficient approach but that’s not my priority.

Only the low side; high side is good with my build
