So, the question no one wants to ask and you probably don't want to answer... How many money shifts has she seen?

Curious as to the root cause.

Was it just a simple missed shift/money shift?

No money shifts. Only had 2.5 track days on it, got fresh oil for the first, the second was rain on and off so I let it ride, then new oil for the 3rd. They were all test days, no competing so I wasn't running it all the way out and I wasn't rushing the downshifts.

With the scope it looks like a lifter twisted as well. I didn't take a look at the cam yet. Scope also showed mild scoring on cylinder 1 as well.

It had a ticking that started that I was chasing a bit, I did the fuel check valve right before it went out which obviously made no difference. It threw the p0010 and p2089 that day as well.

I've been told collapsed lifters have not been totally uncommon with these motors.

Prepared it a loose word lol - not sure you're ever prepared for someone to stick a $15k bill in your face.

That said I am always aware of the possibilities.

If no modifications warranty would have covered. Correct?

Warranty expired in December otherwise yes. A local dealership is going to go to bat and see if we can get a good portion of it covered. I'll keep everyone posted

What mods does he have? His is a 17' already out of warranty, and over 36k miles.

Pics aren't great, but here are a couple pics off the scope of cylinder 1 and where the bent pushrod came from.

Is it a Manual? If so did you downshift to too low of a gear while going too fast for that gear? Electronics cannot protect us from that mistake. I hope it is a warranty fix!

I am absolutely shocked by this. Did not think any dealer would try to help someone out in this specific situation.

That sucks :(

I mean, it could be worse. But it still hurts to look at.

Lots of options while the engine is out/apart if you have future ambitions and budget for it.
