This would at least allow them to run their line at a little more capacity, and hell it would make for an interesting tribute edition.
That type of car is only appealing to a select few people the rest of the 99% of buyers want doo dads and modern conveniences. It would make no sense for gm to do this unless they planned on only selling it for track use and to a few hundred people. as someone else mentioned they tried it once with a z28 and it just sat there no one wanted it.

So I can say with experience my Dealership is Dialed in and in the Know.
I can confirm that I have an order number for a 2023 model year (now in addition to my 2022 order still in place). Both orders are 1100 status. Global connect is accepting orders in the system. GM may not pick them up right now since they are still working 2022's but I have placed my order for 2023 with an 1100 status order number for 2023. Only thing not yet available for '23 is pricing.

I just ordered a 2023 ZL1 1LE from my local dealer. Yes, I have an order number for a 2023, so if you think they aren’t accepting 2023 orders, YOU ARE WRONG!

To clarify, I believe the contentious term here is "accept" I believe most everyone is aware that dealers can place and order in for a 2023, which will put you at status 1100, but GM is not yet accepting them until a bit later.

Best,

Geoff

Well, the actual wording for 1100 is Preliminary Order Accepted. I understand what you’re saying, but some of those guys were acting like you couldn’t get a 23 order number, which you can. I believe tomorrow, April 28th is the first day GM will allocate 23’s.

Ah, interesting... The wording shown on the following thread shows 1100 as "Order Placed at Dealership", and 2000 is what shows as "Order Accepted by Chevrolet":

I would have agreed with you until I read it on my order.

Yeah sorry I wasn’t calling you out haha, I figured you saw it on a form somewhere I was genuinely surprised the other thread shows something different!

"Order placed at dealership" and "Preliminary order accepted" sound very, very similar to me. No commitment from gm to assign a production slot and to build your car at that point, all it means is the dealership accepted the order (took the deposit).

I’m well aware of the fact that GM has not accepted the order, because the dealership must have an allocation and that happens on Thursdays. I ordered a GMC 2500 HD Denali last Summer and lived through the entire order process…….code after code. This will be similar. And, no deposits required at my dealership if you’re a regular customer.

Good Evening Group! I am new here and trying to learn more about this site and the 6th gen. I have had a few Camaros over the years, 1st and 3rd gen and currently have a 1st gen (69). I wasn't a fan of the 5th gen but I am a fan of the 6th gen and have been planning on purchasing one before GM ends production. Today (4/27/22) I placed an order for a 2023 ZL1 1LE at a high volume dealership. I have been communicating with them for over a month and about 2 weeks ago we tried to place the order but it would not go through. However, today it did. I have an order number and put a small deposit down. After reading through several posts it appears that there is some where to follow the process with my order number. Would anyone be kind enough to steer me in the right direction? I realize my order still needs accepted and there needs to be an allocation, etc. The dealership I chose sells a lot of Camaros and Corvettes so I hope that helps me out. I guess only time will tell. Again, I am new to this and would appreciate any tips, advice, pointers, etc. Have a great day.

What is a typical deposit amount/% for a ZL1? Likely placing an order in the next couple weeks on a convertible and was curious.
