Negative. GM offers Borla on the SS model as a dealer installed accessory.

Borla kit replaces everything from the secondary catalytic converter‘s back. Borla does offer a X pipe to remove the secondary cats. The kit will replace all the OEM aluminized heavy gauge steel with the awful bends. Borla stainless steel 3’ inch straight piping with minimal crimps & bends will replace everything.

You can use any analogy there’s only one style offered.

one other dumb question if anyone knows - what is the weight difference between stock and the Borla - Does the Borla weight more or less? - would it really matter?

Interesting, when I contacted Borla, and looked on their website, this part is for the SS Camaro. Borla indicated that it is not designed for the flow of the ZL1 as it is 2.75" and their cat-back is 3". I pointed out that the OEM exhaust is 2.75"... . This of course does not mean that it will not work as noted in your setup, just that Borla was strongly against such a combination.

To OP and others, any ideal how much, if any, hp/trq is lost by keeping the resonators/secondary CATs? The reduction in back-pressure by removing them could conceivably result in loss of torque, etc. And yes, I do understand that avoidance of cutting the OEM exhaust is a good reason for the 60606.

On a final note, the Borla website indicates that both the S-Type and Atak exhausts in the cat-back systems and otherwise, result in -0- drone at any rpm, speed or gear. This coupled with retention of OEM valves is definitely moving in on Corsa territory. Interested to hear if those of you with the new Borla S or Atak Cat Back or Axle Back feel there is -0- drone.

Thanks!

Zero drone with the S-Type Borla. My secondary catalytic converters are in place.

Just ordered Borla S-Type Cat-Back and 60606 yesterday. It looks like it will take some time to arrive as others have noted. Hopefully, Borla will offer some different tips by the time it is ready to ship!

I have the borla s type on my 2019 SS and had high flow cats installed. Engine is built to the hilt. Cammed, I take ported, headers, heads ported and polished, stroked to a 418 and procharged, ended up blowing one cat completely out and dislodged the other. Had them gutted but left the canisters. It sounds different, obviously louder but I wonder what the effect of the canisters being there is. What’s everyone’s opinion on replacing the canisters with straight pipes?

Thanks in advance!
