Spend your money somewhere else. I don’t know what they cost but that would prob pay for a BMR cradle lockout. That’s definitely worth it.

I added one just for looks..I bought the standard GM one then painted it gloss black, I am happy with it but have not noticed any improvement at all. Purely engine eye candy....

Thanks for all the responses. Guess I'll cross that off my list.

It comes on the convertible, at least my 2SS had it. I guess it helps for stability when you don't have a roof.
It is a nice place to get autographs.

I thought there was an old thread somewhere with an interview with one of Engineers from early on in the gen 6 life cycle that said that the Alpha chassis is so good it doesn’t really need a strut brace. But you can add it and Chevy will be happy to sell you one.

Just to put this in perspective, for the cost of buying and installing a STB for a Camaro coupe, you could probably pay for a track day somewhere close to you. So your choices are:
![]() PS - My car came with an STB from the factory (it's actually on my window sticker), and I still think it's silly.

My buddy has one on a convertible '17 SS. You gotta remove it to add coolant. That kinda sucks, but it's actually *needed* on the convertibles.

I just think the engine bay looks naked without it, especially on a performance car.

Not a good idea IMHO. There's a good chance that if you're in an accident involving one side of the front of your car, a strut brace could assist in transferring the impact to the other side as well, which otherwise would not happen.
