AWE + ROTOFAB (no tune) question…
With CA officially not allowing ECU tunes and without a current work around, I would if I would even pick up enough gains with an AWE touring exhaust and rotofab intake if I don’t tune it?
I’m hoping to be able to have a dealership reflash the ECU come smog time but I haven’t heard if that passes the CVN number check. If it does, I’m ok, will do E85, and the above mentioned parts… Thoughts?

You dont have to smog your car for like 6 more years. If by some crazy chance you get flagged and need to get smogged before then, return the car to stock. This isn't a big deal - work arounds are fairly easy here.

Wait, why would you have the dealer refresh the ecu? Sort of confused on that part.

You can get the car tuned. You will just need to put the stock tune back and drive the car so that the monitors are all ready for smog. if you have anything that require a tune, even if cant be seen, you will need to remove or go back to stock also since you may get a cel or codes otherwise.
i wouldn't do long tubes because it is too much work to put back to stock, but i will probably do flex sensor, big gulp, tb. i think i am waiting another 1.5 years until my powertrain warranty is up though. Doubt your dealer will have anything to do with an aftermarket tune though. |

I am so sorry for you guys out there. What exactly does this law cover as far as model years? whens the last year you can own and still tune it?

New TCMs in the 2020s I believe. There is a thread about how you can Swap the old one out but it’s no easy process
