I had OEM PS4S on my 2018 Mustang GT w/ PP1 and MagneRide and the OEM SC3 on my '21 ZL1. The PS4S are great street tires, but, the SC3 are a better performance tire in dry/warm weather and have better turn-in/steering feel. Neither are good in cold weather until they come up to temp. The PS4S last longer, but are quite a bit more expensive (~$100/tire) than the SC3.
My ZL1 rides pretty well given its performance potential. Slightly stiffer ride than the GT, but only slightly. The GT had 19" wheels in lieu of the 20" on the ZL1, so that might make a difference. EDITED TO ADD: And just to clarify, I would never switch back to PS4S now that I've had the SC3. IF I wanted something to drive more confidently in cold weather, I wouldn't get any ultra high performance summer tire; I'd get a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 or another high performance true all season tire.

I added the R, but you must otherwise be joking. Everyone here tends to drag topics to their car(s) and personal experiences. Lighten up dude. We're just having fun here.

Really???? I mean, I've had the SC3s (on a previous regular ZL1 I had), and they are the absolute worst tire I have ever driven on, just horrible. I went to PS4S from them and they were SOOOO much better. |

In my experience, goodyear tires in general just aren't any good, even non-performance tires, I've always had issues with them and replaced them; now I avoid them like a plague. I know many who do too actually. I haven't tried the R version though, which I've heard is decent on the track, but I don't track my cars ever so couldn't speak to that (my ZLE had PS4S on it when I bought it). |

It would be more helpful to people if your posts were relevant to the question or topic. In this case, SC3 vs PS4S, not SC3R vs PS4S. That said, to get it back on topic - glad you like your PS4S tires!

Hmm, I guess I don't share the same experience. I wouldn't switch to PS4S because I feel they have less performance for a lot more money. A set of SC3 tires for my ZL1 is about $1,200 +/-, while a set of PS4S for my ZL1 is $1600+.

Some people on here are just like the ones on Facebook. Where they say the SC3/SC3R are horrible tires. People need to remember that the SC3/SC3R tires are road course tires that are barely street legal. They also take time to warm up to get to the grip they were designed to handle. And no, they don't last long but you need to look at the tread rating to see why.
They have minimal street manners for comfort because they are ALL about grip. So the ride will be worse than an actual street tire, like the PS4S or anything equivalent. Hands down, the SC3/SC3R tires are the BEST street and road course tire. But only on dry roads, tires are up to temp and when the temp outside is above 70 degree...maybe 65. The tire doesn't last long, maybe 7k miles...maybe. Even less when you use it just for the road course. The PS4S (or equivalent) tire is superior to the SC3/SC3R tires for street manners, tread life and being able to use the tires on dry or wet roads. I'm on my 2nd set of Pirelli P Zero and really enjoy them. So to answer most of the OPs questions: How much life do you get out of an SC3 or PS4S? I don't track anything other than SC3s but they last a handful of track days before losing their optimal grip. But it all depends on the track surface and how you drive. Much like any tire. How much faster is the SC3 over the PS4S on track? I don't know the specifics but the SC3/SC3Rs are way faster than the PS4S. You can youtube tire comparison's and see the difference. How rough is the street ride on the SC3? Rough but feasible in tour mode. How much better does the car ride on PS4S vs the SC3? I have Pirelli P Zero (which are very comparable to the PS4S) and the car rides much better. |

I miss so much the razor sharp turn in that the SC3 has that I'd love to dump this set of ECS, I can't see liking the PS4S either, for what I do which is never tracked but I want/demand that kind of street handling. My only SC3 complaint was hydro planing and that's not really a factor for my driving any more. Everything else it's an awesome tire and I expected top get 12-15K on a set and expect the expense.
I switch for winter and run the Alpin PA4. |

When I read OP's post, I interpret it as him asking about all ZL1 SC tires, both 3 and 3R. Thus, my post.
You can read the other posts and see other tires "dragged in" like the NittoR2 or whatever it was, which I didn't think twice about whether it was or wasn't relevant. I just don't believe our posts have to adhere rigidly to the exact words used by the OP, because OP wordings are often vague. After all, this is not deposition Q&A ![]() Anyway, it's true I most often read the last few and do not read all of the preceding posts. At 71 years old, I'm allowed such leeway per site rules ![]() Quote:

I won't get into tread wear, because yea, even small daily drives with no racing/burnouts/etc, half the tread is gone within the first 3-4k miles....I don't really count that because yea, they were trying to do a streetable track type tire. Its interesting to see the responses in here, especially those that are completely opposite from my experience with the same tires being named in the thread. |

Horrible in what way? I live in S. Florida and they are horrible in heavy rain, if that's what you are referring to. Other than that, they are superb on the street for aggressive driving. I switched to PS4S's on my previous SS 1LE. They are great tires in the rain, handle great, and get WAY more mileage than the SC3's. But the SC3's are just a bit sharper/stickier on the street, which is why I stayed with them on my ZL1 when the originals wore out. I don't track, so nothing to say there.

Damn things hop like a rabbit running from a coyote; they would NEVER get any traction for me, ever. I'm not aggressive with my cars typically though honestly, so I'm talking just normal driving (well, normal driving for me...I do like the green light to come up, but I don't do burnouts). |
