Yeah, and one would look like a wanky euro-car and the other wouldn't. (Also, pretty sure the ZR1 would beat it as more HP, but we'll see I'm sure)

C7 isn't the fastest front engine rwd car in a line nor on the track. Why wouldn't they be able to push that layout further? They're still making advancements on their engines and transmissions. Does it take being an engineer to see that?

Because the lead engineer over the Corvette platform already stated that they had gone as far as they could with the Corvette in a front engine platform hence the reason to move to mid engine. Your head would have to buried in the sand to deny the benefits of a mid engine layout.

Not to worry, Corvette Z06 sales will be fine whether you buy one or not.

As far as they could within their budget I'm sure. Mid engine certainly does have more easily exploitable benefits. It's still to be seen for now though. Right now the most impressive things about the C8Z aren't even it's mid engine platform.

Gonna be honest the cars body is not appealing to me, looks like a Modena 360. Which Corvettes have always had a unique body design to set it apart from any present or past sports car. The side vents look like a dolphins mouth

The engine is ok, hp number looks good till you see the tq number. It’s a FPC engine, and the GT350 has this same engine design and its been a ticking time bomb for its owners. Interested to see how reliable it is compared to the voodoo.

Compared to a base c8 the z06 looks similar enough that if you were not a car person you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two.

I don’t see this car being sold for under 130k. Dealer markup is going to be insane. You have used base c8s selling for over 100k just cause dealers can get away with marking the cars up.

Im sure GM purchasing power will get the starting prices under 100k for a no option 1lz car. Adding all the carbon and leather bits though will add up to 140k+. But even then it will be a bargain compared to something like the NSX which is 170k to start.

The later GT350s are more reliable than the early versions that developed a poor reputation. Just because it's FPC engine though doesn't mean that GM will have the same issues. GM has been using a FPC engine in its race cars for a few years now so I think they've had a bit more time to perfect the design than Ford did.

I like it, I will probably sell my Z06 I have now and grab one when prices settle down some. My dream garage has been a ZLE and a C8 Z06

Their isn’t really a gen 2 voodoo. But even the “gen 2 voodoo” is still problematic. Check the Shelby forums. Only time will tell how the LT6 performs. Regarding a race car engine, those engines are rebuilt frequently and aren’t exactly a production release motor. Could use a similar block, but the rest of the internals are optimized for track performance and not everyday car.

My brother has a gt350 it has no power at the bottom of the rev range, you have to really work the engine at the top end of the rev range to get the motor to push out the power. I rather have a pushrod engine. Plentiful of power on tap regardless of rev range.
