Reasonable clutch limits?
Hi all,
spring of 2020 i had a mustang GT. I had just gotten a 93 tune on it, and was doing some testing. I used factory launch control and the clutch grenaded. Ford was a champ and replaced it. I was thinking about this the other day and it got me wondering how strong the clutch is in my LT1. I will admit wheel hop played into the clutch failure, but it was an overall issue on that car. Im looking to add some boost to the car and hit maybe 580 wheel. I know the tremac is factory rated for 600 lbft of torque. What im wondering is if the clutch can handle that as well. I suppose bottom line, could i make the stock clutch hold for a while at that sort of power? |

I had over 40 passes down the 1/4 and plenty of street driving with a whipple SC, about half with drag radials on the stock clutch. Clutched held up just fine and looked decent when i pulled it.
