Maybe it’s changed in recent years, and they have end user software with in-depth tables & functions, but the depth of HPT has always been better (for the end user) than hand-helds. As well on HPT you have the computing a data logging capability of what ever type of device you are using (laptop, notebook, etc) rather than just a tiny little editor of limited ability. The files are like any other file in terms of transferability, meaning you can edit the tune on any type of device by just transferring the file from one to another. Some things I preferred to do on my PC, like in-depth reviewing of log files.
Traditionally with SCT the licensing is handled way differently than HPT. HPT is actually more “Freeware” (you can download & play around with it for free). You purchase an interface (also set up an actual user account that gives you access to the repository that is a database of existing tune files) that allows you to use their scanner tool portion. The scanner tool is by far the most valuable aspect, to me anyway, of HPT. I’ve used it so many times on so many vehicles. You can also upload tunes from supported ECU’s/PCM’s. When you want to actually tune something you then purchase “Credits” that are manufacturer specific. The number of credits needed is vehicle specific. Once the credit for that module is paid you can flash it as many times as you want. SCT has EULA agreements for shops & from what I’ve heard over the years is rabbit hole of expenditures. It’s pretty much leasing their software. Last edited by gtfoxy; 04-04-2021 at 06:10 AM. |

Soler's TB flows a TON more down low and just a bit more at WOT so I'd be curious what they had to do to get the trims and stuff right. |

My guess would be the team at Vengeance had no trouble and/or had the tune in tip top shape before they let the car leave the shop. They tuned mine with the Mamo TB with no difficulty and my ZLE runs like a champ, never a hick up. Just my 2 cents FWIW!

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I am looking to make some changes to my 18 ZL1. I have a CAI kit and it has a decent flowing Cat back exhaust. I was reading this and even though its allot more money I was considering doing a lower pulley 9.1 which should be about 13.75% overdrive. Then get it tuned. I was also considering E85 as well but it seems I would need some fuel mods to support E85. Has anyone done the 9.1 Lower? I assume I need a belt too. What did you see for gains? I am guessing 75 rwhp with the pulley CAI Catback and tune?
