I'd have to hook up HPTuners and take a look, but on my ZLE in stealth mode it seems like above 4500-5000 rpm it gets noisy so I'm assuming that's the valves opening. It purrs like a kitten until that point. This is at WOT from like 2K.

OP look at adding a "resonator" in each pipe upstream of the stock muffler. That should knock out the higher frequencies and tone it down. Speculation here, I don't think you'll lose any noticeable power

Stealth mode, if I recall, did open (similarly in Tour mode), after a certain RPM. I think the RPM thresholds were slightly different, but using King's method helped me tune the exhaust pretty much exactly how I want it. I still have it open after certain thresholds, but they open slightly more and earlier than stock now.

I used to have an SS 1LE, even in stealth mode if you get near WOT it'll open the valves.

There was a thread on the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe a few months ago. People seemed to be happy with the results.

Welp looks like I'm not bringing this car to that track any more... that blows. I don't want to modify the exhaust. The current setup is perfect.
Thanks for the heads up about keeping the exhaust valves closed, figured there might be a backpressure issue (bulged exhaust) or something like that but nothing like the photo posted |
