I thought about a lift too and I could easily justify the cost versus storage although my garage is too low as well for a lift. My garage is only 19'6" X 19' 6" with a small 6 X 6 cubby and already has 1 truck 1 car, r roll aways, 4 bikes, 2 kayaks, shelves of paint, car accessories and car parts, hose reel. I have shelves all around it right up the the ceiling. I use almost every square inch of space. With 4 vehicles total, 2 are in the garage, 1 in the street. The 4th in the storage unit. I try as hard as possible and park in the shade in my neighborhood (and at work) for the one that is outside. It involves a lot of walking but keeps me lean and the paint from burning off the vehicles in the brutal South Fl sun. I need and sue the storage unit. Still way cheaper than buying a new house around my area. I have done the math, I know.

Yeah, some dealers are playing hard to get. The car market is (has been) crazy as is, and the Camaro production issues certainly aren't helping matters. I've been looking into trade deals this week myself but I can't find a good enough deal on one that I would be happy with. I have a dealer that has offered pretty crazy money for mine, to buy outright, but I think I will keep her for now.

This past winter, I was able to use my attached garage for winter storage and keep the battery in the car with a tender connected. Going forward, the storage unit will be the winter storage for me. That was why I was asking about the battery tender type stuff.

I've had my crew cab Silverado on there and the door didn't bump the wall. I could definitely see where I may need to move the Camaro a touch to one side to have enough clearance for the Camaro door, though. Your comment about the towel makes me think that I may want to put a piece of styrofoam or similar where the door will routinely open and leave it against the wall of the unit as a protective barrier type of thing.
Styrofoam is a great idea too. I have a piece mounted to the front of my garage wall and have to gently roll and bump my Silverado bumper against it when I park it in the garage. My garage is 19'6" long and my Silverado is 19' 2". A very tight fit but it fits.

This isn't a 'next winter' thing for me... This is a "this is how it works for me now" thing. I'm selling the house and moving forward will have access to only one small garage. I own a full size Crew Cab 4x4 truck and the Camaro, and she has a small SUV. She gets the local garage in the condo most of the time with the occasional option to put the Camaro in there during the nice weather.[/QUOTE]

Ahh... well in that case, I would likely be doing the same as you then.

What really has me peeved with them is that on top of a deal where they want to tell me that my car has lost 30% of its value "just because", I have repeatedly tried to discuss the etched water spots on the hood of my car that happened while it sat on their lot for nine months and they just ignore the topic no matter how often I brought it up.

Even after I pointedly told them that their unwillingness to even acknowledge a dealer lot-created issue was a big part of why I won't buy this car (or ANY car for that matter) from them, they still wouldn't acknowledge the issue.

Have you tried putting a buffer/polisher on them? I would think some compound would bring the spots out, or at least minimize them. Either way, I guess be grateful that white is one of the better colors to have such an issue on.

Did you know the spots were there prior to finalizing the purchase? If it wasn't brought up at the time (or shortly after), I could see how they would dismiss it.

I have a PC 7424 polisher and have tried it with the Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Ultra and I ended up with a lot of 'messiness' on the hood that I then had to clean up by hand to get it back. I'm looking into something a little more abrasive to try again.

They were 100% present at the time of purchase but I didn't discover them until about a week later when I started detailing the car in my garage. It wasn't registered or driven for a full month after purchase and sat in the garage the entire time I'd owned up to that point. And while I could understand the dealership claiming no responsibility, the fact is that they won't acknowledge the topic at all.

3M Finesse It? Works great on my boat getting the oxidation off.

Dunno. Maybe?

Is there a Marine version of that, too? I was thinking of staying within the Meguiar's family only because it's easy to compare abrasiveness levels within the same vendor. For example, their Dual Action polish would be a bit more aggressive than what I've tried but certainly not at the top of their scale.

I may also just try a different pad with what I have as well.

The Mirror Glaze Ultra should be more than aggressive, I wouldn't go much crazier than that in fear of making the area worse. I would've started with ultimate compound and possibly worked up from there. Without seeing the spots, it is difficult to have a fair idea. If it is to the point to where there are holograms (commonly seen from bird dropping, tree sap, etc.) than a simple buffing is not going to help. Wet sanding COULD remove it, otherwise a respray is the only option.

I'll be getting the car out of storage in my garage this weekend and moving it to the Self Storage location. I have to take her SUV to the paint shop to get a panel re-sprayed with clear (it flaked off after a repair done last summer) and will make it a point to bring the Camaro for him to look at as well and give some input. I will also be making an appointment with the local dealership to get the car in for a number of things to be done (including my free oil change) and will ask their body shop manager about it as well since they are looking at the paint for me for other reasons as well.

-IF- it is repairable by polishing and -IF- it isn't something that will get corrected as part of anything else being done, then I'll take another pass at it.

Throw a note on the windshield that say's "remove drier sheets" so you don't forget. Just a couple simple things can make a huge difference.

Good luck!
FYI, dryer sheets are largely a myth. I’ve seem many where mice take a crap on them in quantity.

Almost every RV I get in trade in the spring has them everywhere, with mouse turds & all.

Long term storage. Every newer performance car I have had in the past 10 years, the battery will go dead. Even with me using the cars every couple weeks. I have had my Gen5, and 6 camaro's come up dead w/o a tender on the battery for any length of time. There are just too many modules running in these newer cars. Me thinks you might need to remove, or at least dis-connect the battery.
