5 things i hate about my ZLE
Actually, i dont hate anything about it. I believe it's the best bang for the buck and it's an overall upgrade from the Shelby GT350 i had. Since no car is perfect, here are 5 things that annoy me:
5) Gauges in dash--> I prefer the analog gauges in the Shelby. I wish there was a way to move the oil temp gauge to the main screen? 4) Traction control button location--> I've turned the traction control off a few times on accident 3) Electric e-brake--> Not a fan at all of the electric e-brake on any sports car. I guess i have to get used to it. 2) No lumbar adjustment in the seat--> i have back issues so this would be nice 1) Skip shift--> i know this can easily be fixed but why even have it?? |

Not a ZLE but a SS 1LE, I agree. The one thing I really feel would make this car perfect while sitting in the driver's seat would be the ability to customize the individual digital gauge displays in the dash. I would also love it if you could add some gauges to the Infotainment display in the middle of the dash. I am an info whore and would love to be able to see the oil temp and trans temp, as well as tire pressures and temps all at the same time.

I added an aeroforce gauge with the pod in the defroster vent.
I set it to show me oil and coolant temp while racing and have the main display showing trans temps. All I need to see for those 20 minutes. |

4) If you're so inclined, a solution like this might help: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=554173 3) Yep 2) Check out this thread about power lumbar installation (2SS, but the same process should work with a ZL1): https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=587273 1) Skip shift saved you about a grand in gas guzzler tax and the eliminator costs about $25

on the DIC (driver information center), scroll down to options. display theme select Standard or Technology. Then when you go back to performance view and you can scroll through lots of gauges. oil temp, trans temp, oil pressure, tire pressure etc.... will snap a picture and post it |

5. Meh, I have driven in a Mustang GT and I didn't like the analog gauges because they are hard to see and at an awkward location. You can se the DIC to display oil temperature, as mentioned, though you can't see a combination of it and other parameters.
4. Never happened to me, though someone had the same complaint a while back. 3. I am indifferent about it. I am not a drifter, so the only two states that matter are fully engaged and fully disengaged. Some here will concur with you very strongly. 2. Yep, a bit odd to me that's missing. Not a huge deal to me, but would be nice to have. You could probably buy a pillow or cushion of some sort to circumvent the issue. Quote:
Hilariously, it's the manual 392 Dodge Challenger that gets the Gas Guzzler tax, not the auto ones. The advantage of skip shift has greatly diminished due to ever-tightening standards, the advancement of automatic transmissions, and cylinder deactivation(which most manual V8 cars don't have; C7 is the only one that has it in my knowledge). https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find...42885&id=42884

Of course, I can't know for sure how much forcing the 1->4 shift enhanced fuel economy during the EPA cycle, but I thought it would be reasonable to assume it's enough to make up the difference between the A10 and the M6 figures—possibly even more, given the manual should be less efficient to begin with, since it isn't shifted by a computer that will be to happy optimize perfectly for fuel consumption in tour mode. However, this is only tangentially related to OP's thread, so let's not derail it

1) it should have a rear view camera instead of a mirror. You can’t see anything with the wing of the ZLE.
2) I wish there had been an option to delete the alcantara and just have leather. Getting tired of cleaning it so much and just looks bad as it gets dirty. Also the steering wheel rim could be thicker. 3) center armrest storage is a joke, wish it was a bit bigger. And the door pocket storage is likewise smaller than it has to be. Minor overall. 4) the layout of the climate control buttons are just weird, but again, minor. The AC works well and the heated and cooled seats are nice enough. 5) no jack in the car at all. First vehicle I’ve owned that didn’t have a jack. Again, minor. More useful than a jack perhaps would be a bigger truck opening. The trunk is actually big enough, but the opening is small. A carryon is tight getting in there! |

Also screw the analog and fake analog gauge displays that you can't know the real number. I went backwards in technology to a C6Z and I get a plain digital number for my oil temp. I don't have to think about the varied and differing graduations between the fake oil temp, tranny temp, and coolant temp gauges on the Camaro.

I used to own a E90 M3 at one point and that thing had little to no information compared to the Camaro.
GM still is up there for giving us ample performance information.

And AFAIK the only fake number in the Camaro is the coolant temperature. Everything else is supposedly accurate. Sent from toaster or something

If you drive in such a way that you activate the skip shift, you deserve every bit of the pain.
