I highly recommend the Flowmaster American Thunder axle back with the NPP. You can switch to stealth mode when necessary. Great sound, good price. I have it with the FM 3" scavanger X pipe to get rid of the flattened area by the rear axles. The x pipe eliminates the resonators that makes the sound better but does not drone. I have the A10 trans and it does NOT have AFM. I get many compliments on the sound.

I've seen one sound clip on YouTube and I was impressed. Wish I could hear it in person but I have the AWE exhaust now and love it beyond words.

It's got long tubes, high flows and stock cat back. It sounds like a NASCAR at WOT and pretty good at idle. I really need to find a shop and get under it to see exactly what I've got under there. The full cat-back is probably the best option.

Your also set in the future if you go headers to as most will bolt and fit right up to a full cat back. Keeping the npp function is great too as the sound is totally different when valves are closed.

I have the borla s-type with headers/green cats and I think it’s one of the best sounding exhausts. I had the atak mufflers before the headers and that was a good sound too, but once the headers were on it was nascar loud.

Of course, max. hp with this engine should be with no back pressure at all. In fact, it really needs negative pressure outside the exhaust valve, so maybe the straight thru pipes with no muffler or with that small dia. inline muffler are best.

On the other hand I love the look of polished stainless. Shows more exhaust residue, but that’s easily taken care of. A couple squirts of Berryman’s B12 & a paper towel & good as new. Do mine about once a week.

I bought one of those wheel cleaners from amazon, the micro fiber ones with the long handle. Fits in the pipe nicely, and can even go above/below the valve when opened to clean that too. I spray a bit of simple green on it and makes quick work of the tips.

I cut my finger bad a few weeks ago when cleaning by hand, the metal inside the tips is really sharp, got a nice clean deep cut on my finger was bleeding pretty bad for an hour.

When I originally replied I didn’t realize you are local to me. I’m in SE Aurora near Parker. If you want to hear the AWE we can meet up somewhere halfway in between on a decent weather day. Just let me know.

The weather looks good most of next week.

The carbon fiber tips look bad ass and the s-type sounds great
The CF tips look very nice. How do the Borla mufflers compare to stock? Does Borla offer a straight-thru 3" pipe/muffler from cat back?

I think it sounds way better than stock. It has a deeper idle, idle almost sounds stock, but when you get on it, that's when you really hear the difference!
I am not sure if they offer a straight -thru 3" pipe for muffler delete, but I'm sure a good exhaust shop can do that if you wanted, if you are talking about muffler delete.

Of course my stock exhaust tips are always black due to the high flow cats so it occurs to me that the black CF tips would eliminate most of that look

Not to hate anyone with the Borla exhaust but the tips look awful to me, they stick out too far, the Borla logo is bright white, and there's screws all the way around the tips. The AWE diamond black (black chrome) tips just look so much better and they're 4.5" instead of other aftermarket exhaust that uses 4" tips. The ONLY downside to the AWE exhaust is that there are no NPP valves if you need them.

Nothing wrong with your opinion, everyone has one. To each their own.
The owner of the custom exhaust shop that I go to does all the exhaust work.
You can adjust how much sticks out. I think mine are perfect, but that is my opinion, like I said, to each their own.
Everyone who has seen or rode in my car always compliments the way it sounds and the way the CF tips look

I do not need NPP.

Each of us have a different idea of how our car should be configured. I'm now thinking something like this pic - straight-thru - behind my headers/hi flows
