I'm no expert, but isn't disabling DOD accomplishing the same thing? And disabling
DOD is in the ECM. That's how my tune is.

In my HPtuners I have DOD disabled & AFM has nothing to do with DOD. I'm going to have to buy a credit to tune the FSCM so I can disable AFM. At least it's this way on a 2018 Camaro SS with A8 & NPP

It does, but for those that are changing the exhaust, it's much cheaper to buy the x pipe for manual cars that don't have AFM valves. In order to run a non AFM valve X pipe you need to disable the AFM valves in the FSCM or you get a CEL. or you can leave the controllers plugged in and tie them up under the car but that is hoaky imo.

In a nutshell, the afm valves no longer close if DOD is disabled , but they will still throw a CEL if unplugged from the system and again you don't disable them in the FSCM.

Good to know, thanks. Can you tell me where the AFM table is in my tune file? I’m using HP Tuner.

Thank you.

Under the systems tab. If you don't see it then you need to check a couple things

1)Make sure you are on the latest version of HPT.

2) re-read entire system. A window should pop up with the option to read all 3 controllers. It will cost 1 credit to license the fscm.

Is there potential of running into issues or are people already doing this with zero issues?
It will throw codes: ECM PO69E (fuel pump controller), PCM P12E8, PCM P12F5.
If you turn off AFM it will throw no codes at all for the AFM valves missing.

You can't tune the AFM valves out and you can't leave them hanging. They have to be attached or they will throw a code. There is only one system with AFM valves and that's Stainless Works. They give you the option of AFM valves or dummy mounts for cheaper that you can mount the AFM motors to but there's no actual valves inside the exhaust. It saves money but you'll hear the car sounding like a cylinder when it goes into v4 mode when using the dummy mounts over the actual AFM valve option.
So those are your choices, either transfer the valves to the new exhaust, don't replace that section, or go with Stainless Works over ARH. ARH did not bother to build a system compatible with automatic transmission/AFM cars. Neither did kooks
Maybe someone can help. Recently got a custom catback exhaust, installer removed the OEM pipes and the customs do not have AFM valves. He left the AFM wire and actuator connected to the car and ziptied them to the bottom of the car. All my research suggests that i shouldnt be throwing an AFM CEL but i am. Any reason im still throwing a CEL? Anything i can do to resolve this without tuning since i do not want to void my warranty?

I did this but it is still throwing a CEL. AFM actuator still connected to the wire harness and ziptied to the bottom of the car. Last time i checked the metal wheel of the actuator can still turn. Everything suggests that i shouldnt be throwing a CEL and i dont want to tune and void the warranty. Any suggestions??
