Seems the OP just wanted to let everyone know that they were driving 140mph. Why? Idk. And, yes, it is promoting illegal driving and doesn’t belong on the forum.

I felt the speed was relevant due to how long I was at full throttle versus a 0-60 pull. No one is promoting anything, I was giving information to an event and wanted to know if anyone else has seen this happen. Y'all need to relax, geesh. Mods can delete the post if everyone is so concerned.

Lol can't believe so many complain about doing 140 on an empty backroad, did you guys just get 450hp sports cars just to drive the speed limit everywhere? Give me a break, I mean it's one thing if it's in heavy traffic but if you haven't gone over 140 WOT when possible on a long, completely empty straight, you're either lying or should trade the car in for a prius or something more fitting, why else get something this fast?

I bought mine to do this, it 100% legal & relatively safe & very fun & really the only place where the performance limits of any car should be tested

I've never done speeding. Nothing more than 15km/h over the limit. I keep it for the drag strip. But that's me and I like it that way

Depends on the road, traffic and conditions. I remember one time out west, near Mexico, straight, flat, perfect visibility and not another car in sight all the way to the horizon. Next exit like 30 something miles away. How fast could a person safely drive there under those circumstances? Maybe 170?

I’ve driven faster on the Autobahn, that’s a public road.

With regards to the oil leak, since you're not FI, and the leak has not returned, I don't think it's the front seal. Must be related somehow to the catch can. I'd temporarily remove the can and do another pull
I actually heard about this, that Metro Atlanta just went wild during the early pandemic when there was no traffic in terms of speeding, people were getting clocked as high as 170.

Most modern cars, even the cheap ones, can safely and properly drive, handle, and brake extremely reliably and predictably at 100 mph. Only the drivers are the problem. If America regulated drivers to where only the most responsible, attentive, knowledgable people are on the road we could safely have 80-100 mph speed limits on every freeway. In through towns too.

I agree with this. Between Kansas City and Topeka on I-70 (Kansas Turnpike) people do 90-100 anyway I set the cruise to 80 when I go to Heartland in Topeka to watch the races and get passed like I'm standing still. I don't really hear about many accidents either on that stretch.

That is a beautiful stretch of highway. Though I have heard tale of people getting tickets when they get off. They randomly check times when and where you got on the turn pike and calculate time vs distance. Don't know how true it is, never happened to me.

I don't know, as long as the stretch is completely empty, and the road is in good shape, a little sprint isn't too bad of a sin. Considering these cars are designed to handle speeds well above 140, and most (not all) but most of us who drive them have more aptitude than the average driver.

In other words, if dying in a firery car crash is the way you want to go, more power to ya, just don't involve anyone else in your personal blaze of glory.

I haven't seen anyone one pulled over when I get off in Topeka and then back home in Kansas City and there are definitely 100+ drivers. I saw a couple get pulled over in September but that is about it. Speed limit is like 75-80 so I just set the cruise based on the main flow which is about 80-85. I usually take the Civic to the races too since that car has Ktag. EDIT: If we were talking percentages I would say about 20-30% of the traffic is pushing 100 or higher.
