why not just buy yourself a nice sparco or OMP seat? Believe you can get a setup for same price as stock Recaros. I do understand if you don't want the airbag light and or you enjoy heated/cooled seats.

Airbag light, cooling, and i really can't get myself to spend big money on seats. They will hold me in place better on track, but how much faster is that going to make me?

But I always wished the ZL1 coupe could be had without the Ediff. It is a waste of 40 pounds for my use of a car. If I hit the track again I will still be in the beginner class. So I won't be bouncing off the curbing @ over 100 MPH. But I wanted a lower ET. I did get to 11.1 @129. 40 pounds less and less gas might have let me touch the 10s. The ZL1 should be a 10 second car right out of the box. To me and opinions may differ, the ediff is a waste on the street. And it adds $$ and unnecessay street complexity to the ZL1. I am not knocking it. It is another example of superlative GM engineering. And a good thing to have if you are at least a semi serious tracker. But what really made me decide to sell the ZL1 was the falling off a cliff residual value and the A10. It maybe is the best auto ever, and fun at first, but in the end not as engaging as a manual. And weight adds a heavier feel to the car. My LT1 feels more tossable on the street than my 16 loaded 2SS did. But it is not that much lighter so maybe that is my imagination talking and would not be confirmed with emperical data. ![]() I have to stop disagreeing with myself.

The results from the two H2H with the SS and SS 1LE give some perspective.

Thanks for sharing those lap times. Great to see that the base Camaro SS easily beats the Mustang GT PP1 that has wider tires, I believe that the intention of the PP1 was to go VS the SS1LE, but FORD wasn't able to beat it so it went to cup tires with the PP2 package and missed the target again.
Two things are unbeatable on the 6th gen Camaro: the Alpha platform and the eLSD wich makes a superb handling track beast.

To put this in perspective...isn't it true that the 6th Gen SS out performs the 5th Gen 1LE on the Streets on Willow track?

Go drive a well set up C5 Z06 with stock seats and report back! This was my previous car, and you were literally holding on with hands/arms as well as legs/knees for all your worth. Being able to stay in the seat and apply light grip pressure to the steering wheel is key to feeling what the car is doing, consistently hitting your marks as well as being able to unwind the wheel and apply throttle precisely. makes a difference in lap times and consistency each and every corner. |

Same here (eLSD, cooling, and seats) which is why I went with SS 1LE and not the Turbo 2.0 1LE. If only Chevy offered these options on 2.0 I'd be in that little beast. You are losing a few hundred pounds off ss 1LE, toss in a few mods and that little sucker would be a track weapon. And easier on the consumables as well.
