Wheel to caliper clearance?
Just bought a rear drag set up 17x10.5.”
Rear caliper clearance is close. I don’t have a gauge but I can fit 8 sheets of paper between them. What would be too close? |

nah...should be fine unless the wheel isn't perfectly true. Drive it slowly and feel/listen for any scraping.

Is it 8 sheets of regular printer type paper? If so that's roughly .025"-.032"
I thought I've heard over the years that .100" is the minimum wheel clearance needed. I would get with the wheel manufacturer and get their input.

I’ll call the manufacture on Monday. I’ll get a feeler gauge tomorrow to try and be more accurate. I hope they workout

You're fine with the Race Stars. I run a set on mine. I have had a rock get in there and scratch my wheel, but you only see it when the wheel is off.

Huh, interesting. I thought they’d be golden after seeing that one dude test fit them.

I run Forgestar F14 by 17" with MT Et Streets. Eye balling it, it is close with maybe a 1/4 inch at most. It clears the calipers OK.

I ran them after all. They worked great. Had the weights mounted to the rear tho. Tires worked perfectly. Drive shaft not so much.
