Exactly man! If they were the same price as a 1LE then it would’ve been a tough choice!

Give me a PDK equipped GT4 and I'll be very happy.
I agree there is only so much hp you can use on the street. I dont know how useful 650, 760, or 790 hp would be, maybe get me into a whole lot of trouble.

Dealerships have no power. Because the buyer can always get up, walk out the door, and never return. The problem is the buyers. If every buyer decided that they would no longer pay a markup and all agree to that, then the dealerships would eventually start losing money as the car sits and would be forced to remove the markups. However these are Ford guys we're talking about. And the Shelbys have a cosmic awesomeness that they can't resist.

As it should be with the extra power... but let's not forget the 11.5s and mid 11s it also ran on a prepped surface if we're bringing up BW's shitty 11.9 on a prepped surface lol.
One thing I learned from years and years of racing...in ways that are not allowed to be discussed here...is that having the faster car does not automatically mean you will win. I have easily beaten people who had cars that were much faster than mine. And that will be the case with the ZL1 against the GT500. In some cases the 500 will win. In other situations the ZL1 will win. But it is not etched in granite that the 500 will always win.

I'm saying the market determines the price. Which you and the others have said multiple times. And when a manufacturer takes note, they WILL try to get their cut. The Shelbys have skyrocketed in price by $5K. If it was a few hundred or even $1K to $2K then I could see your point. But $5K is a LOT of money to raise a price by. And I'm thinking that if you averaged up what folks paid for Shelbys since the markups started, $5K would be the mark.

There were no personal attacks. Go back and re-read. If anything, GSJ threw an insult at me. But I bet you missed that. As far as proof, a while ago there was a Hellcat guy who was racing and something happened during the race. He then tried to present the car to the insurance for the damages...basically commiting insurance fraud. However he had posted the video on social media and it was found and an investigation took place. He got arrested and there were some other issues because his son was in the vehicle at the time. I believe he lost custody of his child under child endangerment laws. I do not know what the outcome of all this was. But during that time others started catching heat for videos they had put up. There were a couple people who even got arrested. So a lot of people removed and deleted their videos off YT and other social media. I was not a part of any of that BTW. But I started using discretion. Suffice to say, I prefer cars with high top speeds even if I don't go over the speed limit.

I have no idea who you thought you gave advice to. But to be clear, there was no such exchange between us ever in this reality or any warped sense of reality you might be living in. I also do not know what you mean by "next rental car" as the only times I ever rent a vehicle is when on vacation and in those cases they are sedans or vehicles that are more common. My cars were purchased brand new and my SUV was bought used only as a Winter vehicle. You are either incredibly mistaken or you're talking about someone else.

All that said, I have always owned pony cars because it was the only real performance I could afford, not because they would be my choice if money was no concern.

These cars are creeping up to Porsche prices, and for the money I too would much rather have a lighter more nimble car with proper balance and usable power.

The thought of paying GT500 and Redeye prices to throw around 4200+ pounds sounds like an awful trade for me personally, but I am not a straight line guy at all.
The ZL1 is the only stock sub-10 sec capable car with great handling and fully loaded that comes in under $70K. Well, besides the C8. GM is trying to keep these cars affordable. Meanwhile the competition is creeping higher and higher. In fact, the Camaro is the only car that you'd be hard pressed to option over $75K. The GT500 is easily over that mark. Same with the Hellcat, Redeye, and GT350R. The C8 can definitely go over $75K even in Base form. But pretty soon we'll see the end of that and all these higher end performance cars will be that much closer to $100K.

I doubt I would pay $65K for the R. $60K maybe...I'd have to sleep on it. For the non-R I wouldn't go over $55K. And even then I'd still have to remember that in a straight line there are GTs that cost almost half the price that are faster.

HAHAHA....I would no doubt own one if they were the same price as the 1LE. I would pick the 350 everyday and twice on Sunday over a 1LE, and the Voodoo is why, however $61.5K is high for me.

I like the way they packaged the 2020 350 too actually, and love them in the new silver!!

If they priced it at $55K MSRP then I would be a buyer for sure, so I guess I am less than $10K apart.

Little off topic, but just wanted to throw this out there. With a good deal you might be able to get a zle 57-59 with all the discounts. If you're willing to go slightly used low to mid 50k is possible

POST #4769. Your welcome. I'm digging this quote below.

One thing I learned from years and years of racing...in ways that are not allowed to be discussed here...is that having the faster car does not automatically mean you will win. Its good you don't discuss your racing. Because the racing that you do discuss. Sounds a lot like BS. To quote a few of your better lines. "I've hit 180 on a road course". Or this classic. "I wasn't trying. When I ran my 11.9".
So since you can't discuss your years and years of racing. Am I to assume? Your some kinda bad ass, street racer? You know, bad ass street racers answer their call outs. Right? Never once Have I seen you do that!!!! So with that said. I'm not buying. Your some hardcore, street racing, Need for Speed Mother F%&ker either! I'm really puzzled. How a few of the guys in this section. Back up this kind of constant nonsense.

My guess is that he wasn't referring to 180 mph on the track but maybe a spirited run on a street in Mexico. In regards to 11.90s in the ZL1 he wouldn't be the 1st to struggle with a high hp car on street tires at the track. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt through.

You could be right? Although a person with years and years of race experience. That can't be talked about here. And has easily beaten many, much more powerful cars. Should have no issue at all on a prepped track. So....

At this point I think it's not as much backing BW as it is disregard for you. You dont own a camaro, or seem to be interested in them but here you are. Also I dont know that I've seen you add anything to this thread, other than trying to argue with Black, or talking trash to him. Have you been to the internet? It's full of people making claims that will/can not be backed up, maybe try getting used to it. It doesnt make you look good harassing people you dont like either.

11.4 for both cars on unprepped surfaces is pretty interesting. A lot worse than ford fans were hoping for I'm sure but cant wait to see some lap times for the 500. I think without the carbon fiber wheels, the base 500 will struggle to post great lap times [especially at 4225lbs] and you will definitely feel the weight. The cftp will be a different story but cant wait to see. The zle isn't light either but at about 400lbs difference, that's not insignificant

It seems to me that Ford's approach was to make 2 different 500s. One that could track well and one that is good in a straight line. GM's approach was to make a car that does great at everything, then make a version that is even better at everything. The price difference is not insignificant either. On Ford's end you're making a $20K jump to get a better track car that just happens to be not as good on the strip. With GM you pay an extra $7500 to get a car that is better around a track and better in the quarter. Either way it is evident, to me at least, that the Base 500 will not stand a chance against the ZLE around a track. And it is possible that the A10 ZLE will also beat the 500 on a strip. The only area where any version of the 500 might shine is the CF around a track. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out for sure. But I would not be surprised to see the A10 ZLE dominate in all areas even if the 500 might have more potential in a straight line. It's starting to look like that might happen.

Pretty much exactly my thoughts. I'm a handling/road course guy as well, so usable power is more important to me than straight line speed. Balance and weight being the most important. Guess that's why I have my 2600lb GS

Agreed I owned a twin Tubo 5th gen and a current ZL1 and I miss my '16 SS M6 the most. It is kind of a performance sweet spot. World class handling and fast enough to thrill. Glad to have both expereinces, flushing $25K down the drain in one case and flushing another big chunk with just one year of depreciation. But I am glad I had the expereinces those cars gave me. But now I am looking for the all around warm porrige at just the right temperature, just like a Boss 302 or a GT350 or even an SS/LT1.

I did enjoy my '15 M6 ZL1. It was almost as fast as my '16 SS. But it was just too heavy to be as much fun. My loaded '16 SS was around 3,650 pounds. 400 pounds makes a big difference.

Now my big question to myself: Red or Black? And what about Satin Steel? No spoilers please.
